These are very sought after commodities in china. Mainly for their traditional Chinese medicines. And you know there are many Chinese communities in different Asian countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand and even Cambodia and Laos. Not to talk of traditional Chinese environments like Hong Kong an Taiwan. So many age long superstitious medical and spiritual beliefs on these stuffs that have made them very costly and the demand so high...

But rivers state is not sharing any boundary with the middle belt I wonder where exactly they're migrating from.

Serious logging is going on in Cross Rivers and southern Cameroon. Very big business and highly unregulated..

This is a very lovely news and picture, it shows how civilised the people of that area are.

In Yoruba land, you would have seen them sharing the meat.
With one malnourished hunter posing beside the dead body with a den gun.

The elephant looks lonely and depressed. They've killed off everyone in its group. It's slowly dying

Elephants trample people and ignorance is a disease. All that creature needs is a month or two around them and it will stealthily take them out.

So u mean ikuru is a natural habitat to elephants or the govt brought them there?
it is a natural habitat. i visited Ikuru in 2015. I saw elephants and other wild life. When i asked how the live in close proximity to such wild lives, then the showed me a boundary. The animals don go Beyond that point because thats where people live. It was converted to a federal reserve after the locals killed an elephant in the forest.

This is as a result of massive logging by Asian proxies in the middle belt and the South. Massive logging is also going on in the Cameroon. These elephants are being pressured out of there hatbitats by these Asian businesses who pay Africans to loot down everything in sight. Wouldn't be surprised if the elephant s gone by now since the huge tusks are badly needed is Asia..

I hate that we allow this to happen and just look away.
The are in the forest, logging trees and loading them into containers right there in the forest bound for the ports.
Nobody has any idea what they log or certify it or regulate their activities.
If I ever become President, the first thing I will do is call the Asian countries Ambassador for a meeting right at Eagle Square during the inauguration ceremony and put on notice, all of their citizens and businesses in Nigeria.

Actually it is the construction and recently completing of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo unity road that has disturbed their peace. Through the years the difficulty of the swampy patches and thick forests made human activities in that area minimal thereby encouraging migration of Elephants there.
