We are so blessed with so much biodiversity in this land. It's so refreshing watching an adult elephant feeling so at home among fellow Nigerians. I salute the Ikuru indigene too and I hope the oil workers will not conserve that natural environment.

Are elephants this extinct in Nigeria? In Kenya elephant sightings are a normal occurance in many parts of the country. A lone elephant is always definately male, an old one that has been chased away from it's 'park' by upcoming male 'youngins'. They are always big trouble though because they are over aggressive. Luckily in Kenya the KWS(Kenya Wildlife Service) is mandated by law to pay compensation to victims of human-wildlife conflict. Be it physical or damage of property caused by animals that raid farm, etc.
