samsard: Makes no sense, today it is stopping crypto related finances tomorrow it is stopping the use of foreign currencies completely, sounds like a government that is always reasctive instead of proactive. The problem of the Naira is not Bitcoin or any other currency, it is the actual value. When we import everything including lighters and matches then you should know this is a country full of sh*t! What they did does not actually ban crypto activities, it only affects the large companies, the individuals or the miners/traders are not affected much unless they want to stop all forms of dollars from entering the country which is basically a suicide mission 1 Like |

Validated:If this happens then they make the case easy for him. Join CAC as respondents, and court will see reason to award judgment easily to him, because they will see it as victimisation...except if they are correspondents to show for previous infractions by CAC which I doubt. |
Re: E-Naira: Company Sues CBN For Trademark Infringement by splashbaby(m): 5:24am On Sep 29, 2021 |
allthingsgood:Hahahaha Naira and not eNaira, this is a different entity all together. If not CAC will not have registered it. With the CAC registration, eNaira is not an exclusive property of the CBN...this is what CAC registration means...they can't jump on it as if they own it. What have they been waiting for all this years to make eNaira a statutory name or property. |
Re: E-Naira: Company Sues CBN For Trademark Infringement by samsard(m): 5:24am On Sep 29, 2021 |
abbey621:They won't stop dollars from entering because we need it for international trade and payments. In short, the CBN would do anything to encourage legitimate inflows Bitcoin was stopping from dollars from coming (by being used for remittance instead of fiat) and then taking out the remaining one we had in the black market. Individuals basically never trade BTC in FX. They do P2P in naira. |

SarkinYarki:Naira..Yes and not eNaira. They are different thing all together. CAC registration means it belong to someone else and not CBN. Beside CAC has procedures for registration which CBN should object to the eNaira registration which they failed to do. |

SarkinYarki: Now i have just found the golden comment i have been looking for. Like, i don't get the nuisances being constituted by the private organisation, the NAIRA name absolutely belongs to the government. Government suppose to even sue his ass for making money with government franchise without remitting any forms of royalty to the government. 1 Like |

sapientia: Rebrand to what? Any suggestion? E-money. There is someone called E-money already Emeka Okonkwo is about to get richer. ….but how can someone sue the CBN over the name ‘Naira’?? CBN should call their bluff. Naira belongs to Nigeria and if there’s one institution that should be laying claim to the name, it should be the central bank of Nigeria…but what do I know. |

There is difference between ENAIRA PAYMENT SOLUTION LIMITED and ENAIRA Go to CAC website and do a search for any key word. For example search the word APPLE, you will find so many registered companies with that key word. If the company suing CBN registered the name ENAIRA alone, it will be an issue but it has other components with it. Johnson solution LIMITED is not the same thing as Johnson limited Also, see screenshot of different registered companies with keyword newswatch

How can a private company trademark "Naira" which is owned by the federal government? The company would lose the case because they should not have been registered by CAC in the first place. 1 Like |

SarkinYarki: My thoughts too but it only goes to show that whoever gave the approval at CAC back then to the said company wasn't forward thinking, and now this has happened. Let CBN compensate the company After all na dem (CBN) be money |
