Get the vehicle speed sensor on the gear replaced, should not be a big or expensive job and the sensor is relatively cheap.
Not much to worry about

You don't have to do everything a mechanic tells you, especially the not too educated ones.
That's why you have forums like this
Yeah, I discovered this forum late.

Do you remember the name/brand of the gear oil you used?
What is the color of the oil on the dipstick right now?

Hello gurus in the house.

Please can I change my transmission fluid from Dextron to Honda DW1 without flushing the transmission?

Flushing will cost much..... Can I just drain and replace?

Flushing is your best approach as you may have to drain and refill twice to achieve desired result.

My 2006 honda accord DC V6, doesn't start easily in the morning and sometimes later in the day. I need to turn the ignition twice or thrice before it starts

In addition to the above, I also had a p0171 and p0174 codes, now how did I solve these problems, by simply changing my fuel pump and filter, apparently the old fuel pump valve doesn't open when tested manually by the fuel technician.

Your car is no longer in automatic transmission but manual. Simply park and disengage the gear cable from the engine compartment. Then use the manual drive of d1,d2,D3 that you have.

Once you get to your destination, get a certified gear engineer for Honda to check for u. Driving with the blinking d light will completely damage your gear.

Drain and refill twice with 3 liters of DW1 each time after a drive of at least 20kms between fills. Never ever flush your Honda transmission... ever. Or your name will be sorry.

Hello gurus in the house.
I have a 2003 Honda civic. After a long drive, the car starts to idle rough at intervals and would almost go off. If I revv it a bit the idle goes back to normal but still happens later on intermittently. It dies if AC is on when idle begins to run rough
It dosent idle rough when cold, only after a long drive

Idle air control valve has been cleaned earlier, changed spark plugs. Noticed that cylinder 2 plug tip gets soaked with oil even after changing plug, but the vehicle does not smoke, shorten oil and drives well
No codes when scanned

Any input would be greatly appreciated

Whaat!!!! I almost collapsed with this analysis and recommendations.
I m in PH don't know any gear engineer, for now I have parked the car, waiting for more recommendations and directions before i take any further steps..
I don't want to damage the gear. I am so confused.

Before you replace fuel pump, there are easier things to rule out:

- Which engine oil do you use? If too viscous when cold (the likes of 20W-xy), you may want to use 5W-20 or 5W-30 semi synthetic or full synthetic.

- Optimize combustion by cleaning your fuel injectors, throttle body and replacing engine air filter.

- Less commonly, wearing starter motor brushes (starter motor is popularly called 'kick' or 'kick starter') could be another culprit. Generally, if this is the case, it may worsen rapidly over a few weeks and car won't even crank anymore.

- Also less commonly, a battery getting weak. Batteries generally require more 'power' to start up an engine in cold weather.

If all these are ruled out and symptoms persist, you may begin to pay attention to fuel pump.
First thing to check for fuel pump is to turn your key in the ignition to the intermediate position and listen for the whining sound of your fuel pump. You should hear it if in a quiet area. If weak (compared to how it used to sound) or absent, fuel pump suspicion stronger.

Cheers!

My car suddenly started to start on second turn in the morning, though not every morning. Then I noticed sometimes as I'm going out in the morning, it feels sluggish as I accelerate and if I don't march the throttle it acts like it wants to off. But after first 2 mins of driving it starts moving normal.

I scanned and got p0171 and p0174. I also have p0420 and p0430, my catalysts are present so I'm lost if its o2 sensor

Car is Lexus es300 serviced with hardex sae 5w_30

Hello Sir.

I am wondering why you brought a Lexus problem to a Honda thread

Anyway, in the spirit of 'one love', below are the possible causes of the trouble codes:

-Intake air leaks
-Faulty front heated oxygen sensor
-Ignition misfiring
-Faulty fuel injectors
-Exhaust gas leaks
-Incorrect fuel pressure
-Lack of fuel
-Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor
-Incorrect Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose connection

Your car has a v6 engine, so you check to rule out or confirm the above on both banks as applicable.

Please, don't come back with subsequent queries on your Lexus in order not to derail this HONDA thread. I guess there might be a Lexus or Toyota thread elsewhere on Nairaland.

Good luck and cheers!
