Is this #100b giving to each state or giving to the whole 17 states in the south by the FG under GEJ?

I'm just hearing about this for the first time.

It was given to all the states during GEJ's time. It wasn't seen as an attempt to islamize or fulanize the country then because GEJ is a Christian southerner and it didn't suit agenda.

https://allafrica.com/stories/201410241120.html

Karimi, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, recalled how the Federal Government raised a committee chaired by a former Governor of Benue State, Mr. Gabriel Suswam, to investigate the frequent conflicts between herdsmen and farmers.

He told the House that the Suswam committee found out that existing grazing routes had been encroached upon and “should be recovered and improved upon.”

Karimi added that, as a result of the findings of the committee, it recommended “the release of N100bn through the CBN as seed funding to all states for the construction of ranches.”

He added that though the money was released without the approval of the National Assembly, there was no evidence of how it was utilised.

“There has not been any ranch constructed anywhere in the country to account for the expenditure of the money,” he said.

#100b was released to all the 36 states in Nigeria to build ranching. Is left for the FG to make an investigation into it.

This can't stop states that have decided to pass anti-grazing bill.

Any Fulani that is not happy with the open grazing bill in the south is free to go back to their state of origin, some are not even Nigerians.

A Southern Governor do not owe a Fulani man running his cow business any ranch.

Any Fulani walking around with cattles should be arrested and their cows confiscated. The law is the law.

You don't understand the point he is driving....
If the gov. had established ranches then cows wouldn't be grazing openly... And thus it will be illegal to graze them openly.
But where the money has been dropped and ranches were not built, then it is unfair to enforce a law without first providing for the ranches for which money were given.
The law is legal in my opinion .. but it's enforcement without first returning the money or building the ranches is the illegality in contention.

Now that we have a Fulani man as the president, all cattle owners are Fulanis.
It's amazing that this wasn't the same reaction to the same solution recommended by the state government under an Ijaw president.

We play politics with everything. The only reason many are opposed to this solution is because of their hatred buhari, and the same is obtained across other sectors. They are not looking for good governance, only how they are going to benefit legally or illegally from government.

Buhari should do what he can and leave the rest. When next we have a president from the south, he should attempt the same or find a better solution.

The Fulanis should go and ask their state Governors about the #100b release in 2014 for building ranches. Is not as if it was giving to only Southern Governors.

There is a lot of other news of Fulanis destroying people farmland all over Nigeria. This can't continue.

I'm not against cattle ranching, I'm against cattles moving around and destroying farmlands. I've seen a farmland cattles grazed on in Ekiti, you would never know there were crops on than land a day before.

What is the FG doing in getting back is #100b from the 36 states Governors?

If you see them on your farmland and chase them away, they will com back in the night.

If Nigeria is not a United country, no sort of country will accept this sort of nonsense.

Looking at this problem from an ethnic point of view is where you are getting it wrong, the first state to ban open grazing in the country is Kano state, a state under a Fulani governor.

Tactical Air Command (TAC) of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) based in Makurdi will hold a routine air firing exercise on Oct. 4 to Oct. 7.

This is contained in a statement issued on Sunday by its Public Relations Officer, Wing Cdr. Chris Erondu.

There will be firing of live heavy weapons at the air range by NAF combat aircraft.

“Consequently, residents and farmers around the Kwarnev Air Range area and its environs are encouraged not to panic on hearing the sounds of the weapons as the exercise is not meant to cause panic or harm anybody.

Also, they are warned not to come close to the air range throughout the period and time of the exercise to avoid casualty,’’ the statement said. (NAN)

I'm also not in support of open grazing but rather than allow ethnic and religious bigotry cloud our judgments, we should be looking for how the country can benefit the most by finding the best solution to this problem.
Brazil and Netherlands earn massive foreign exchange from the exportation of diary products and beef. A lot of their youths are employed as vets, professional slaughterers, and several other role in the cattle value chain.

Our meat quality is among the poorest in the world, no serious country will allow it into their country as it will fail quality tests. The amount the country can make from the exportation of leather gotten from cattle alone is massive, these and many more are what the National livestock transformation program or grazing reserves will solve but because we have a fulani man as president, we see this intervention as fulanization and all those nonsense.

I've traveled to Osun and Oyo, most of the Yorubas rearing cows do have a ranch.

They just put the cows in an enclosure, they feed them with grass and water inside. When next am traveling to Ede, I will snap pictures of ranches for you. Them just just stick to make the enclosure.

You wey even wan do cattle business, is the person not suppose to budget for all this stuffs, why Una dey make this ranching thing b like Wetin go cost #10m to establish one undecided

Very soon, people wey dey into catfish business, piggery, poultry go dey ask for money to build an enclosure for their animals.

Nope, majority of them employed fulanis to help them raise and manage their cattles. I'm from Oyo state, currently residing in Osun, I have family members doing this and at some point I considered doing it too, was told I would be paying the fulanis 10k per cattle per month. A lot of the elites in the south west own the cattles you see with fulani herders in the south west. Even OAU, a federal university employed the services of fulanis to manage the school's cattles. The school doesn't have a ranch.
The cattles you see along Ede-ife road are not always there, they are not ranched in those places, they get moved to the location to graze and back to were they are kept.

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully foiled an attempted attack by the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists on a facility housing some surrendered Boko Haram members in Damboa, Borno state.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, in Abuja.

He said that the ISWAP terrorists had resorted to attacks on surrendered Boko Haram members and their families in a desperate move to curtail the unprecedented depletion of its fighting force.

“This antic of terror within terror is being employed by ISWAP, to discourage intending surrendering terrorists in their ranks.

“The latest strategy is not unconnected with the frustration of the group, as top ranking commanders and members denounce violent agitation to embrace peace in recent times.

“This palpable apprehension might have led ISWAP on Saturday to embark on a mission to annihilate or capture Boko Haram terrorists, who had surrendered in Damboa,” he said.

Nwachukwu disclosed that the gallant troops of 25 Task Force Brigade engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to withdraw in disarray and ensure that Damboa did not fall to their antics.

He said that the terrorists made futile attempts to access the facility housing the surrendered BHT members, but retreated when confronted with the superior firepower of the troops.

Meanwhile, the army authorities have reassured the good people of Damboa and environs to go about their normal businesses as vigilant troops would proactively continue to provide security of lives and property.

The Army spokesperson also enjoined the public to provide actionable and timely information on the activities of the criminal elements and their collaborators.

According to him, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has commended the troops for their doggedness and charged them to take the fight to the terrorists’ enclaves to deny them freedom of action.

He also reassured them of requisite support as they record more operational gains under Operation Hadin Kai.

Determined to restore security in Anambra State, the 302 Artillery Regiment General Support, has lunched ‘Exercise Golden Dawn’, to provide security in the state.

Exercise Golden Dawn, according the Commander 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support) Col. Abdulkarim .B. Usman, in the welcome address he presented at the flag off ceremony at Igbariam, Anambra East Local Government Area, is apart from serving as an avenue to combat insecurity in Anambra State, and foster inter agency cooperation, it’s also a routine training exercise in various geopolitical zones of Nigeria and South Eastern States.

He said that the rise of insecurity across the country has made it imperative that the Nigerian Army comes to the aid of civil authority in joint environment, adding that the exercise which commenced on October 4th to end on December 23rd, 2021, is meant to train command and staff of combat arms and services in planning and conduct of Military Operation Other Than War, MOOTW, to confront security challenges within their area of responsibility in conjunction with other security agencies.

“The military will use the golden opportunity in conjunction with other security agencies to curb the existing security threats in Anambra State. The threat ranges from secessionist agitations, by the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and Eastern Security Network, ESN.

“Others are banditry, kidnapping, cultist activities, land disputes clashes, communal clashes, chieftaincy issues clashes, assassinations and youths restiveness. To curb these countless security challenges, a robust posture in what the unit has always maintained”

Col. Usman thanked the troops and other security agencies for the tremendous effort in keeping Anambra State safe and secure, adding that more needs to be done to combat the highlighted security threats in the state.

He further disclosed that the Regiment under the leadership of Major General T. A Lagbaja is currently undergoing unprecedented changes. The Regiment and indeed 82 Division have continued to benefit immensely from the Chief of Army Staff, COAS transformational drive.

“Remarkable improvements have been recorded, particularly in the refurbishment of Armoured Fighting Vehicles, procurement of new platforms, upgrading of training facilities and construction of new accommodation for officers and soldiers among others.

“These transformational efforts have greatly enhanced the welfare and operational capabilities of the troops. It is therefore my fervent hope that the exercise will record successes.”

He however urged all the sister security agencies and the people of Igbariam community to participate and cooperate with them for the success of the Exercise.

The Caretaker President General of Igbariam Community Chief Anthony Obueh, who led elders of Igbariam community to the flag off ceremony, said that the presence of the Military in the community has given them confidence that there will be absolute peace and security in the state, the community and its environs.

He promised that they will give the military all the cooperation they need to make the exercise a success.

If you get cow, just carry am go waka on the street of Akure so you go know if the State Government have the capability of dealing with you or not.

Your wailing starts and end on Nairaland.

Actually cows are wandering about Ondo State as we speak.

I passed four sets cattle grazers along Dangote Refinery road at Ibeju Lekki, Lagos last week.

I am waiting to see the first six sets of successful arrest, trial and jailing of herdsmen in this country.
You will explain when Nigeria became S. Africa of the 60s.

We are railing everyday against state laws that appear to be unconstitutional like Sharia, banning alcohol or ethnically or vocational targeted laws and people think it is right to arrest herders that are not trespassing peoples farms.

You will tell me why street traders are roaming free and people violating town planning laws have not been arrested.

States should sit down and agree with FG areas to use as cattle zones within each state where people can establish ranches cheaply because of shared services that will make it cheap. Those cattle zones not 'grazing' zones should permit a controlled number of grazers.

The state will own the cattle zones and issue c of o only to the ranchers. Grazers will operate only with permits.

Ranching is expensive and the land take could also drive away crop farmers. The cheapest way to do it is via shared services of water, foliage, silage, veterinarian and the all-important transportation costs.
