45% is too small. It should be 95%. Let everyone eat the fruit of their tax and natural resources labor. |

If each state cuts it's coat according to available material the state will be able to survive. But you see governor of poor Yobe state wanting to live like the governor of vat rich Lagos state or oil rich Rivers state. |

The elephant in the room is that most states don't want to raise taxes on both the taxed and untaxed in their states So, they are looking for more money from Abuja. |

Oloriburuku somebody, the 26% you have been getting, what have you done with it? How are you different from the terrorist hiding inside the Rock who has been using our oyel money to sponsor his blood sucking vampires. Ogun roads are the worst in Nigeria, much more worse than South East roads |

Nkemakonam62:See feeding bottle mentality. When they ought to be clamoring for full autonomy so that each state can control their resources and give the center as little as 10 or perhaps 20% of generated income. It's like a full grown man asking his dad to increase his allowance each month from his total salary he makes for himself. Economic restructuring is the only way forward for this country and if they refuse then let every body go their own way. |

helinues:What has the FG done with the %52? Federal roads are death trap, all federal government agencies are a no go area, immigration is a mess, police is a menace, military is a curse to the country, Fire service is non existent in some states. The states are closer to the people so are the local government, FG should be more concerned about how much the center takes with nothing to show for it. Federating states should take the lion share and leave the center to generate their own income via state taxes. |

skywalker240:No, I mean every state. Non-oil producing states....and even the oil producing states. The oil we produce is not enough to even sustain south south states....so at the end of the day, states have to raise taxes on everyone...or get more kudi from Abuja. They don't want to raise taxes on everyone...taxed and untaxed...so they go to Abuja to try to pry more money out of Aso Rock. And if you are not from an oil producing region...you are part of the leeches. That includes most of the SW, SE , and the Middle Belt. Plus your Hausa pals. |

FG has a bigger responsiblity than states hence...FG manages the military, all agencies and ministries...u can't compare the bulk of infrastructure under the Fg to DAT of states..they can't collect 12% compared to around 50% it usually.. Fg budgets more than 12 trillion yearly...the total budget of all the 36 state isn't up to dat if am not mistaken... If states want more allocation ..Fg should also transfer some of their responsibility like some of it federal roads to states to fund and handle.. The same state want total control over their VAT but they are not ready to give LGA autonomy... In short LGA has a bit of life because the FG transfers allocation to them... Trust me if states is allowed to take control ...many LGA will not see shi shi... Las las ..all this things na cruise states want to use the opportunity to cash out because of many of their incompetence...they should have demanded all the money Fg takes na..den when one Fg road spoil ..they will come and shout at Fg to do it... Lol..oil cannot finish in Nigeria not in 2 centuries... If a well goes dry .we will simply drill more wells... Y do u think NNPC is exploring the middle belt and north.. Even some SE states already have oil reserves...benue, kogi ,gombe, borno and many more now have oil reserves waiting to be exploited...a lot of states are literally floating on oil but they don't know it cuz their regions hasn't been explored ... Remember oil prices are now steadily rising... Don't be deluded anorexicmuster: |

Cognitivereason:I know that oil won't run out in the next ten or forty years ....but it will run out.(Electric cars also aren't going to replace oil cars yet...it will take some time. ) And it would be good to prepare for that 'evil' day, even if it is 200 years in the future or longer. That's why we got to invest in techincal education, science, and technology...as well as make our economy more investor friendly, and end out obsession with a national cake. |

What Fg gets isnt enough.. ..but I disagree with u on Fg management... Most Fg agencies and are better managed than their states counterpart except Lagos and a few other wealthy states... Fg budgets for 200 million people is around 30bn dollars..south Africa budgets 2 times that amount for 60 million people.. Hope u see the difference. If states should take the lion share...they should be ready to take the lion share of responsibilities as well by taking over those agencies in their states...then leave the seat of the president to be completely useless... Lol taxes belong to states...if u now want states to take over what the Fg generates for it revenue.. Then there will be no Fg... That means States should be ready to take over everything under the Fg including the military..so think well... Ur just opening ur mouth anyhow and spilling nonsense without analysing the issue critically...how can u say state have better management than Fg..in short most of the corruption are within states and u don't here only because the media do not concentrate on them giving them rooms to loot silently... If ur asked to become a FG worker or a state worker which one will u choose.. How much does ebonyi states make...but look at how umahi used it to develop his state..what about kano and Kaduna they don't make as much as Ogun..but their governors execute more projects there...what of borno...see what zulum is doing... Ogun states yearly budget is over 400bn..go and check how horrible their roads are.what has dapo commissioned since he got into office..many governors are just incompetent and are fighting for their pocket KaluwisxPRO: |

Cognitivereason:What federal government agency is better? Name just one? Immigration has been without booklet for over a year worldwide, in every Nigerian embassy outside this country, passport renewal data has to be sent to Nigeria for processing before onward movements to their host country, eg, South Africa. Secondly you know nothing about resources control, you’re feeding a child from a water bottle, with you controlling the movement of how much water he gets, yet you want the same child to have a reservoir for his brother. How much resources are states allowed to do explore? Absolutely none, states are left to generate funds via any means, whereas the FG sits on top of the control of who gets what as resources in the same states. Barely you will find any Niger Deltan as N oil bloc owner, yet you think the owners who run their business in other states, should not pay taxes in their host states. The Taxes of Niger Delta is being shared to oil workers who milk the resources in Niger Delta but do not remit same taxes from where the resources are generated. Other countries you mentioned in your daft responses, go check if they run such manner of criminality. Then come back to talk about how meager what states get, yet they are given the most responsibilities. You claim the Governor of the state is the chief security officer of the states, but the state Commissioner is under the authority of the IG, does that seem to you that the police in the state will do the bidding of the governor? Likewise every other thing under the control of the FG. Until those agencies are unbundled to the state as well as states getting more, Nigeria will continue being a control on a rollercoaster. No destination, just cruise |

I don't know about other countries but I know Nigerian oil can not run out...not In atleast 2 centuries.... If not for the PIA bill dat was delayed for decades and subsidies ..more oil companies would have been in Nigeria to further exploy the country.. The oil wells drilled in rivers, akwa ibom ,bayelsa and delta for decades is what is sustaining Nigeria... And those wells are not showing signs of going dry not in at least 30 years... Now imagine if all this new states that now have oil reserves now begin to dril wells..we will have enough oil to last 2 generations... Nnpc and even the minister for petroleum resources have never said they have problem with the availability of oil reserves... Their only fear is dat one day the demand for oil will significantly drop...and the commodity may even become useless... This is why Nigeria is preparing for that time by switching to gas..Nigeria has more gas than oil...that why buhari is building ajaokuta, Kaduna to kano gasoline (AKK) With plans to extend it to Europe in order to export gas to northern Africa and Europe anorexicmuster: |

Cognitivereason:The highlighted part is the beauty of it all. If any state cannot manage itself, that is the business of the state. If they deny LGA, that's the business of the state. They will see results very soon. When others are developing and they are getting poorer, their brains will be fine tuned. Is it not poverty that is fine tuning our brain right now? If any state cannot pay its police, that is its business. Competition will start. Good people will start getting on board. At the initial stage, states will fumble. When they see Lagos and Rivers getting it right, they will fast follow just like how universities followed University Of Lagos before govt started destroying the progress again. Buhari is always a turning point. He was the turning point the military used as excuse to destroy everything. I pray his failure this time will be the turning point for our success. Buhari is destined to fail. That is something that we know. And it seemed his failure was to propel us to success then in 1983, but unfortunately, another ma.d man called IBB took over. History had to repeat itself and that was why Buhari came back to power to fail again. We thank God we have just 2 years left for this dullard to get away and die in Daura in peace. What I pray is that his failure should propel us to success this time. Listen, the worst thing is govt taking the money and them re allocating again. This is the faulty foundation. It is not about having an Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa president. It is about making each state responsible for its destiny. How can Lagos be generating huge fund and they allocate it to Zamfara which generates non or little? And then Zamfara keeps pumping up the population, and they keep having the political votes cos they have huge population. This is what is happening. This is the fight Igbos should go for. This is the fight Yoruba should go for too. And this is the fight Ijaws and everyone in the delta and oil producing nations should go for. How do you know that if states are empowered, they wont do it well. Let them fail na. Let them fail first. When no one is bailing them out, their heads will be formatted. Let each state be independent and FG should stop doing the rubbish it's doing. FG must be boxed to just foreign affairs. Period. When this happens, we will have hardworking state legislators and the numbers of law makers in Abuja will be reduced seriously. It wont even be attractive for people to tun after as everyone will start running to get position in his or her state cos that's where action is. Abuja will be irrelevant as it will be interactive again. So, if you destroy your state, that's your wahala. If your people allow you to steal, that's their wahala. Each man for himself and for his state. Period. The days of taking money from Lagos and Rivers to develop Sokoto and Kano will be over. Let Fulani commercialize their cattle rearing also. Let Kaduna buy crude from Delta for its refinery and the nonsense going on should stop. Let the Igbos have rest of mind and assurance that if they return to their states, they will be rewarded too. Let there be fair play. States will start going out to form sisters cities with other cities in the world. Let everyone carry its burden. Then, we will see real progress in Nigeria. And I know we cannot just do it at once. Amotekun gave birth to this. Nice. Wike made progress with VAT. Lagos joined. And yesterday all SS governors have joined too. Great. Now, I am shocked the almost dead state - Ogun has risen from the dead. Ogun is "gingering" Lagos to go for more than FG. If they get if, they will push more and more till they all make Abuja irrelevant. Kudos to Abiodun on this. If seems we are all waking up and we are using the right means which is the law to get it right. This is the way forward. We cannot let Kanu and Ipob set us into war. But I cannot deny the fact that the agitation of Kanu too has it's own good result. This Inthank God for. Yes, we pray everything works together for the goodness of Nigeria.. What I want to see in the next 10 years is that each state carries its destiny. It is good that it is a gradual process cos achieving it suddenly will crush Nigeria as many states arent ready. They still want to be sucking FG's boobs. Lol. So, I agree with you that they arent ready. But let's keep moving forward like this. We will get there. I think Nigeria will redefine the global politics and government, and create a new system of government which will be unique and then adopted by other African nations. This is why we are giants of Africa. We dont back down. We rise again from defeats. This is it. I am seeing if happening already. We create what is unique for us. We are beaten many times but never shattered to pieces. We get up and fight like Africans. We fought slavery and won. We will fight this too. This, I am sure of. We just need to tackle these old thieves. Osinbajo is presently falling my hands and I am thinking of withdrawing my support. Mark my words, Buhari may be the last powerful president we have in Nigeria as the next president will be forced to give more and more power to states. This I see coming, and it is good for Nigeria. Let each region manage it's own military and have supreme court. SW is already demanding for a supreme court of it's own. This is good. How do you explain Buhari creating a Naval base in a desert cos he want it in the north. Ma.d man. It cannot work. Let the north create their naval base in the north na. I am sure that Naval base will be for the north only. And they will soon realise that it is a wasted effort by the time they are responsible for it. But since it's the oil money from the south they want to use, they dont care. Let us force each state and region to be responsible for its destiny. Let's go there. |

Oga... If u think commissioner of police cannot take orders from a governor to protect his state then ur deceiving itself .. During the badoo crises..ambode handled the issue with the commissioner of police without anything Fg.. Wike ordered the military a whole military to attack ipob in obigbo..hope had meetings with military generals had the air force attack an ipob camp in IMO State.. During the end SARS protest...Lagos state government asked the military to immediately intervene and dey did by ending the protest bloody...sanwo olu recently had meetings With two service chiefs and top generals ..I thought they only take orders from buhari.. If u think governors don't order their security heads in their states.. Then ur swimming in a fallacy... I hope ur not using the excuse of that useless benue governor... Wike created a unit under the police that strictly operate in rivers state only.it called C4I ..I thought that buhari job...so who gave power to wike.. Lagos state government also crested the taskforce team under the police in it states which operates only in Lagos.. So police aren't ordered by governor to protect his state but they can be ordered by the governor to protect his convoy when moving on d road or government house...nonsense... Mention an instance where Governors could not order the police under the state.. It only clueless governors that like ortomatic failure that gives such excuse.. If state governors are the chief executive officer of their states..what stopped them from passing a law under it state assembly to create a security unit that have synonymous functions of the police... Y r dey waiting for the burden of police to handed to them when they can create their own and called them wat they like...ambode created something like that called neighborhood watch... Did buhari punish him..SW created amotekun as well...is it synonymous to the job of the police.. Inshort am not sure ur very intelligent to bring up such a point... One of the major source of revenue to SA Is mining.. And the mining companies pay royalties to the South African government... Am not against state handling it resources ...the point is the total amount of revenue Will still be shared between state and FG...state can't leave peanut to the Fg except u want the responsibility of the Fg, it ministries, agency to be handed to states...and such doesnt work anywhere including the united state.... So in ur limited senses...only Fg should handle foreign affairs..den the rest na states.. KaluwisxPRO: |
