MMWandali: exactly what's on my mind. in PH, my former place of residence, there use to be this man that had generator plants, which he uses to generate n distribute power to about 5 streets in where PHCN has refused to give them power for almost 2years in PH. do u knw that one day, PHCN mobilized some force men, troops in trucks. they came bundled the man, disconnected all his supply lines, and whisked away with his about 4-5power generating plants... that was when I realized that it will be very hard for this country to see forwardness... Am happy with this Bill. Watch as Power Generation will be a thing of competition and its challenges will be crippled. 333 Likes 27 Shares |

.........And the National Grid is where the mega Greed lies.....Individual can generate any Megawatt as much as they want to generate and transmit to the Nat. Grid. But the Nat.Grid hoarding them and that is where the big problem lies. NNPC transmitted PMS to all the marketers in Nigeria, but the Marketers chose to Hoard the fuel in their filling station underground tanks causing unnecessary Queues and Hold up on the street. That is where the big issue lies. 51 Likes 3 Shares |

Mrkumareze: You got it wrong. He is saying what the current status quo is that the bill will change. For me, a positive step in the right direction. What is obtainable now is that any power that is generated must be put on the national grid for transmission and distribution.” If political leaders can deliver more laws, policies and directives that liberalizes the most critical processes and solutions, weaken the concentration of excessive power and authority in the centre, plus empower the private sector more, then it will not be long before serious States and region, like SW and her States, will no longer care about the Presidency. Do this same thing with policing. I.e move it away from from the exclusive preserve of the FG, with approval of optional State and regional policing , and watch serious region like the SW become very safe overnight with the adoption of modern security architecture underpinned by State or regional police forces unimpeded by the clueless centre and it's moribund NPF. Something else that must be urgently visited is the need to put States in total control of extracting, refining and marketing their mineral endowment to include the power to directly benefit foremost from profits accrued from the aforementioned. Zamfara, with the aid of a pro-North and partisan FG, is already doing this by mining, marketing and profiting directly from her gold endowment with the centre seeing very little. Why not remove the grey areas and fog so every State can do same legally and with transparent benefit for all stakeholders i.e States, federal government and private sector partners? By the way Okowa complained bitterly about how it is "unlawful" for Zamfara to control her gold endowment entirely. Let's see if he will still be saying same on the campaign trail with Atiku a devotee of North's partisan control of the centre that has led to what Zamfara is doing. Someday the rest of Nigeria will understand why SW leaders are uncompromisingly demanding what is shown below while myopic Nigerians keep thinking a single man, as President can work miracles without adequate provision to change and unbundled the failed structure currently controlling Nigeria. Smart Nigerians will know they must only support the candidate that can reform Nigeria fundamentally and holistically. Anything else is bullcrap and 'more of the same' rhetoric. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2020/11/its-unlawful-for-zamfara-to-control-gold-okowa/amp/

Why must i generate electricity & send to the national grid. That's is the problem. Let any who generate also chose where & whom to sell to (Distribute). This laziness of the core North is what's driving Nigeria backward. Generation & distribution should be decentralised & privatised completely. Distribution has always been the bottleneck. 44 Likes 3 Shares |

They are not serious. They should remove that clause that says the power individual companies or states generate must be transmitted only through the national grid that collapses every 1 hour. They are just wasting their time, this a greek law 31 Likes 2 Shares |

KEVIND: That is what is happening. Essentially the new law gives States the power to grant licenses to mini grid operators. https://www.tvcnews.tv/2022/07/senate-passes-new-electricity-bill-to-boost-distribution/ With this bill, States can now generate their own power and would also be able to issue licenses to mini grids. Mini grids in Nigeria are privately owned and characteristically seek to generate and distribute power directly to customers. States can now issue mini grids licenses taking the power away from the FG exclusively. Step in the right direction for serious States because they can use several mini grid licenses to specifically target a sustainable and upgradeable power solution for all areas within a State. https://openknowledge.worldbank.org/handle/10986/29016#:~:text=Abstract,distributes%20power%20to%20several%20customers. The mini grid sector in Nigeria started to develop only recently. The study focuses on mini grids defined as small, privately-owned and operated systems with generation of up to 10 megawatts (MW) capacity and a network that distributes power to several customers. 217 Likes 2 Shares |

It's a welcome development. However, the clause where you have to transfer power generated to the national grid isn't sensible. We haven't solved transmission issues. Of what use is power generation that can not be adequately distributed? Meanwhile, the Nigerian Police have increased the cost of obtaining a Police Character Certificate from N5,000 to N40,000. This is a document valid for only 3 months and required by most Nigerians seeking to study abroad or migrate abroad for better opportunities. Meanwhile, the Nigerian International Passport which is valid for 5 years costs only N26,000. The question every well-meaning Nigerian should be asking is "why will a document valid for only 3 months cost twice the price of a document that is valid for 5 years?" Please join in compelling the IG of Police to reverse the price of obtaining PCC to N5,000 by signing the petition via the link below. Over 5000 people have signed but we need more people to lend their voice. https://www.change.org/ReduceCostofPoliceClearanceCertificate 5 Likes |

Peter Obi deserves an award for waking this terroristic government up and getting them to focus on electricity. Thanks to Peter Obi for revealing the endless meetings Siemens was invited to, for many years, by Buhari/Fashola's government agents, with nothing being achieved. Thanks to Obi for revealing that the Egyptian government only negotiated with Siemens for a period of not more tan 6 weeks, before SIemens started the job. Thanks to Obi for giving the national assembly a kick in their bullocks to start acting in the interest of Nigerians, by paying adequate attention to the power situation. Peter Obi is really needed as the president. All these while that Tinubu has been masquerading as the APC leader, he did nothing to encourage his party members who are ruling the nation, to aid the general population by fixing Nigeria's electricity supply. 25 Likes 4 Shares |
