My sister's leg started swelling up last year November, when she went to church she was told that they kept some diabolical stuff for her in her husband's place. Since then we've spent over 500k on native treatment yet the wound keeps deteriorating everyday and small maggots are coming out from it. 
We suggested she visit the hospital, but she is scared they'll opt for amputation.

You see my issues with Christianity in Nigeria? Simple issue that would have been diagnosed and maybe given prescription, you took it church and the con pastor used your sister's leg to do trial and error treatment.

The treatment wasn't done in church. Someone took her to where they do native treatment

This is lymphatic filariasis, worse, with gangrene. In English, your sister has rotten elephantiasis. If she had taken the complaint to the hospital when it started, this could have been averted. The parasite is not local, when it's done eating a part of her, it fights the body defence and move to another. It's already advanced. My advice. Get her registered at a teaching hospital ASAP

Which would have long aided in recovery if you people visited a hospital first. There are no answers yet from the medical students here and yet they’ll attack me when I suggest this is tetanus. Their work is never to advice only criticize. At this point amputation is better than watching something which may spread further and cause more harm.

You probably wouldn't have spent that amount of money if you guys had taken her to the right hospital - a justification for the saying that ignorance is very expensive.

This leg is gone to be honest, you will spend more to have this treated just talk to your sis, assure her that her life isn't over after amputation, That leg needs to go so it doesn't spread to the upper parts that is just the truth.

I can't imagine the pain she is going through but I know she will overcome this and pls you guys should always be with her.

So sorry. I couldn't help but exclaim. The OP has to be told the truth. That leg has to be amputated, pitifully.

That leg is far gone. it is at the amputation stage. Even the west that introduced christainity are not these foolish. How come a church of all place was your first point of call? Doctors/orthodox medicine has a major part to play and the church/pastor its role also.

She should simply option for amputation.

If any dead bones they need to be removed.

The wound can heal with hyperbaric oxygen therapy --hbot.

The blocked blood flow caused the tissues to die.
To heal the wound you need high dose Oxygen -hbot to do the magic.
If oxygen does not get to the swollen leg the wound will continue to expand.

Facilities with hbot can easily treat the wound
