Two Storey Building Collapses In Abuja, One Dead, Several Rescued by Doraty1(f): 9:29am On Oct 06, 2021
A section of a two storey building under construction in Abuja has collapsed with an occupant dead.

The collapsed building is located behind CITEC Estate along Airport road, Jabi.

The incident, according to the Director General (DG), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Emergency Management Authority (FEMA), Alhaji Abbas Idris, occurred by around 1am on Wednesday.

The deceased body has been deposited at the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Jabi.

According to him: “A section of a story building under construction behind CITEC Estate along Airport road, jabi collapsed.

“One person died. And the body was deposited at the Federal Medical Center, Jabi. It happened by 1am on Wednesday (today) the occupants of the uncompleted building were rescued to a safer place to prevent more casualties due to continuous cracks from the structure”.

Contractor want to pocket extra.. By using 4 rod to construct 12 rod pillar..

Using 15 buckets of sand for one bag of cement..

Too bad. Pls we should learn to keep up with building codes and laws. Let's adhere to standard and not compromise as regards construction projects cos when the damages eventually happens it's tends to take more life cos it's a living vicinity.

Perosnally ave left some construction jobs just because am been asked to compromise on the use of materials, honestly speaking as a building engineer i can't jeopardize my professional career or make use of substandard materials for construction projects knowing fully well that the building is going to be habitted by humans because that counciousness is always there. God help us

All those Abuja tall buildings don dey old.
NNPC towers sef don dey peel, no maintenance despite huge inflows of money.
So many uncompleted buildings littered everywhere within the City. Companies starting gigantic building projects that they can't complete in the Next 10years just to secure space. SMH
