Old picture of Onitsha surfaced online.

Onitsha is a major commercial and industrial hub located in Anambra, South-East Nigeria.

The city serves as a gate way to other SE cities and important towns such as Enugu, Owerri, Abakaliki, Awka, Nnewi, Aba, Nsukka, Umuahia and Orlu.

This means you must make a brief stop over at Upper Iweka(A popular park in the heart of the city) if you are heading towards any of the aforementioned cities in Igboland.

The city has an estimated current population of about 10 million inhabitants with 52 bustling markets.

The Town has continued to spread into 5 LGAs with massive development, springing up in form of Estates, GRA, Layouts, Industrial Town with Realtors and Valuers taking advantage of commercial cluster and population of the town.

Onitsha depicts the resilience and undying spirit of Ndigbo as most multi-storey buildings there are individually owned with little or no government presence.

One notorious thing about Onitsha is that your phone, wallet and expensive watch can go missing without you finding out until you reach ur destination grin grin. No forming of gentleman here.

Onitsha prides itself as the home for all where everybody is accommodated. Most markets in the city have both Hausa and Yoruba lines where other tribes display their wares and trade with Igbos. No discrimination, tribalism and ethnicity in Onitsha because everyone is treated equally being a commercial arena.

No matter who you are, you have to be very smart immediately you see a signpost/billboard welcoming you to ONITSHA.

It's possible. OUK is a rich man who established many money yielding investments across the country though he laid a very bad foundation in Abia State.

Uyo, Calabar, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Kano and Kaduna all have better infrastructure than Onitsha.

It's not true. Most of these cities just have many flyovers which made you think they have better infrastructure than Onitsha. U should have added Abakaliki too if that's what you meant by infrastructure. Onitsha has more livable multi-storey building and residential locality more than them. Yes, they have planned good road network than Onitsha but the latter has more housing apartment than all of them put together. Commercially, only Kano and Lagos come close to Onitsha in Nigeria.

I've been to Onitsha before and it's quite a beautiful city. Being a commercial city, the wuru-wuru was just too apparent.
.
But take it from me, Kano is still miles ahead of Onitsha.
