THE Chairman Emeritus of DAAR Communications Plc, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, said he was supporting a northern presidency in the 2023 elections because they had been marginalised with the death of former President Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua in 2010.

According to him, it will not be fair and just should power return to the South in 2023, even though the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), would have done eight years.

Dokpesi, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, stated these in an interview with journalists in Abuja on Saturday as part of activities marking his 70th birthday.

He said his support for northern presidency was in line with PDP agreement during the party’s convention in 2006.

But ironically, Dokpesi said he was also canvassing for the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for President in 2023 because they had been childhood friends.

He said, “Let me tell you that Bola Ahmed Tinubu, before he became governor, when he was still in Mobil, you know the Headquarters of Mobil is just directly in front of my house in Lagos. As young men, we ate and drank together; we were close friends before he became governor.

“He is a philanthropist; he is kind-hearted. He is supportive of the ordinary person available, and he has brought about bringing hope to people. For 2023, I wish him the very best in whatever he puts his hands on. So, it has nothing to do with politics; it is a matter of the good relationship we have always had and I cherish it and I want to keep it.”

Kai, Dokpesi does not wants to lose out no matter what.
Opposition is the hardest thing to sustain by Nigeria politicians. Should the APC retain power come 2023, the PDP will go in to extinction by default.

The Tinubu supporters are killing his dream rather than encouraging it with the screaming of "Tinubu for president" without giving purpose or reason and not disputing allegations aswell..

This would only create a politically United Nigeria across board against him. If you look beyond the nose, you would see that momentum already building.

Am afraid this might bring up the mantra "Eko no be Naija" and it would be a mantra so popular it would unite Nigerians politically like "Sai baba" once did.

You see, the "sai baba" was quite popular but it brought about a divided Nigeria because two popular regions didnt buy into it, but "Eko no be Naija" encompasses Nigeria leaving out just the Lagos APC. With the opposition leaving the ballot open, "Eko no be Naija" could mean anyother person who is not under the Tinubu umbrella.

Nope I didn't..

Infact buhari climbed on that mantra of "sai baba" which united Nigerians against Jonathan. alongside, buhari had something going for him, which was that cloak of "anticorruption" and "military strength" against bokoharam"...

Gej in 2011 had something going for him, the gang up against him, the whole turai yaradua saga, the whole issue of the cabal working overnight for him not to become president actually fell in his favour and United Nigerians across board making sure he gets to be president...

Tinubu has nothing going for him. His supporters need to create a purpose as "southern presidency" alone would not cut it.

Tinubu is the best thing that have ever happen to Lagos, people of South East can not fight their leaders but when they arrive at Lagos with only singlet and nylon bag, they turn to beast that have no control.

There are people who will move this country to greater heights but we never give such people a chance in Nigeria. These morons supporting Tinubu know he has nothing to offer but they'll support him because of tribal sentiments. In the end, na so of us go suffer am, since Buhari hasn't thought all of y'all a lesson

Better for power to remain in the North than for Tinubu to become president.

In 2015 , we know the tribe that put the South in this mess.

Now its payback time. North to rule till South get sense.

Your choice, you only have one vote to that effect. All politicians are the same be it Tinubu, Atiku, etc. PDP=APC pro max. Irrespective of who becomes the next president it won't change anything. The power tussle is only about who gets the lion share. Just grind as an individual or at most family to survive without hoping on the country because Nigeria is irredeemable. And if your hustle isn't paying off, then move as far as possible where your talent & skill can be meaningful.
