Why Is A 13 Pin Gearbox Not Repairable by Munachimsoaga(op): 11:19pm On Oct 12, 2021
Hello guys, I've been wondering why Nigerian Mechanics find it extremely difficult to fix a 13 pin Gearbox. Most of them will either advise you to rebuild it to 10 pin or get a new 13 pin Gearbox. It really baffles me! Experts your opinions are needed.

Not only 13 pin. They hardly fix gear box. Any gear repaired will go bad after some months

No training given to personnel so fixing is majorly a trial and error thing.

Equipment to fix said fault is mostly nonexistent in Nigeria.

Most gearbox part comes in kits and expensive, also the parts have manufacturers stats and default modes which most technicians have no access to.

Buy a used gear from an accidental vehicle is more financially feasible than buying China kits for untrained technicians

My 2006 Toyota Camry i4 has a shudder with the following characteristics:
1. Vibrations start at around 50m/hr or 80km/hr.
2. Happens only on light throttle.
3. It goes away if I let off the throttle or press Down and it shifts to a lower gear.
4. Only happens after 5th gear when the rpm drops below 2000.

My suspicion is a faulty torque converter for the following reasons:
1. If I turn off Over Drive, limiting the transmission to 4 gears it never vibrates.
2. I’ve dropped the pan, cleaned and actually flushed the transmission fluid with T-IV. And it made no difference; so I know it’s not a fluid issue.
3. My tires are new and balanced
4. Car runs smoothly at same speed it usually vibrates when I turn off OD.
5. My engine mounts and shafts are tight with no clucks when I engage drive or reverse.

Please gurus am I on the right track? Your contributions will be greatly appreciated! If I am on the right track, how do I know a good replacement TC?

If you are experiencing this issue call me I have a transmission additive that is guaranteed to stop the shudder you are experiencing.

So let me clear something here..
first of all

Most mechanics lack experience with modern electronic gearboxes. Gear box have this divine principles, like don't leave a gear box open for so long when repairing and always wait for the gear box to calm down before opening it because that will cause issue later if not properly taken care of.

Advanced diagnostic tools needed are not commonly available. Yeah and software are suppose to be on ground the updated software.. some electrical can get cheap software.. so you need expensive software to be able to do technical work and jobs.

Spare parts are rare, expensive, or often fake.
Yeah and you end up getting parts from foreign market like Amazon and is usually stressful for the engineer and then cutomer alike..

Gearbox components are delicate and complex. Any error when fixing can cause a big error when testing or driving .. and require another loseing to repairer that and along the line will affect other things too.

Poor road conditions and electrical issues worsen gearbox lifespan., so you know that there is a kind of road that you will hit and your gearbox will be faulty.. yeah it happens.

Few workshops specialize in automatic transmissions.
Few and not advertised electrical gear box engineer because of work load they are running from work.. and they are experts.. 😂
