What do you expect ? considering the proximity of Ibadan t Lagos, should it even have an Airport ? except for congestion that might happen at Lagos Airport, whichever way Ibadan is fine, if we want to develop the Airport it would not take anything to do so.
My guy let's face it, no one would want to travel from Lagos to Ibadan by road if he could fly. With the traffic and the state of the road, everyone would rather fly. I have nothing against Ibadan. I actually love the city but we must all accept that the Igbos being the business class of Nigeria would definitely travel more.
Let me give you a clear picture If an airplane carries an average of 70 people, from the stats above, it means only 70 aircraft flew into Ibadan airport in 90 days. This is less than a plane per day. That means that the airport is being run at a loss.

Yes, more than 5million Igbos in Lagos. Let me give you a picture, If you go right now to my village in the southeast, you would discover that the number of people staying there is far less than those in Lagos. Every Igbo village has a vibrant community in Lagos. We all hold our end-of-the-year meetings in Lagos. Ask any of your Igbo friends. We are a traveling people and many of us have made the big cities our home.
Where do you get your stats from?
Yorubas don't makeup to half the population of Lagos. Even traditional Yoruba areas like Ikorodu are becoming very watered down. Lagos is a cosmopolitan city.

You are asking where I got my stats from have you told me where you got your own stats from?

My man, Lagos State is dominated by Yorubas and they are 5 times the population of any Ethnic group in Nigeria.

How come everywhere you go, you here them speak Yoruba?

Hmm! From that data, Abuja had more air traffic compared to Lagos and it's somehow unbelievable.

Again, how come Owerri's air traffic is increasing even to the extent it is higher than that of Kano inspite of the seeming insecurity in the region and the incessant seat at home orders? Does it mean that the city is more economically viable than we think? Food for thought!

Stats can really be incredible at times.

the roads leading to owerri/imo state are so poor and frustrating that the elites and those who can afford a flight will take that part instead of going through land. Just come from onitsha to owerri will take you like 6 hours once it's 4pm... Something that shouldn't be more than 1hr if the road are good and and there's no unnecessary road blocks by the military and the police and CTU . Smh

Is there any airport been operated without federal government approval?
Re: Lagos, Abuja, Rivers, Imo, Kano, Enugu Dominate Air Traffic Data 2Q (Photos) by Biafrarep(m): 1:08pm On Oct 18, 2021
When Igbos keep demanding for Biafra despite all they've invested all over Nigeria, others don't bother to ask why? Imo State had to raise money and build an airport! Anambra has just done same but federal government built other airports even in places that have no need for it.

Owerri airport experiences more traffic than Kano and Kaduna airports but they built a small terminal in Owerri and built a big one in Kano that experience lesser passengers.

Enugu airport was closed down for more than 6 months in the guise of repairs yet at the end of it all, they couldn't install night landing equipment just to frustrate airlines from using it.

The same wickedness against Igbos is what makes Onitsha port to be in that deplorable state despite the massive need for it.

In all of SE, you can't find any federal government presence except prisons and police stations they use to fleece our people. Even customs and navy have since left the borders to join them in the fleecing Igbos in region.

It's only a matter of time and they will have Nigeria to themselves alone.

All the airports in top six are actually international airports.

So I don't understand why some people are celebrating like they won a world cup.

There's only one international airport in Southwestern Nigeria and we are not complaining about marginalization.

Owerri is not International Airport. Only Enugu is International in the whole South East

As for Owerri, the Fear Of killer ESN makes air travel necessary in those parts. No body wants to move by road and there is no rail.
Maidiuguri airport should be the busiest in Nigeria then.

Even kano should also be very busy given the kidnap business on the roads of the north west.

Don't disgrace your IQ.

For them to have such is a plus to the state because it's in close proximity with Lagos.

You didn't see Niger state because Abuja and Kaduna is a connecting route to such. Your flight can be cancelled or rescheduled if it's not up to an expected number of passengers, so why take such risk when you can connect your journey through other states...

Most airlines finds it difficult to fly when the flight is not fully booked due to high cost of aviation fuel. Most people will prefer to drive from Lagos to Ibadon than to be at the airport like an hour before boarding which is almost enough time to drive done to Ibadon

What you're saying is fallacy to cover up shame and I will explain to you.

The distance from Port Harcourt to Owerri is far shorter than the distance between Lagos to Ibadan, yet P.H experiences the third highest traffic while Owerri experiences 4th highest traffic in Nigeria!!

Also, within a relatively small region enclosed by P.H, Owerri, Asaba and Enugu are 4 airports, yet they all experience much more traffic respectively than other airports in the so-called large landmass areas!!

Two things explain the low traffic Ibadan and Kano airports experience:

1. The people living in the cities and catchment areas are mostly poor with few rich and negligible middle class or

2. They hardly travel.

Air travel is just one small measure of an economy. Again, the high air traffic in Owerri could be linked to insecurity as most people would not want to make the journey by land.
Finally, Igbos are the business class and travelers, they are by far the highest air travelers so these stats are no surprise.
Air travel is a significant measure of prosperity.

Na who get money dey enter plane.

The most prosperous countries have the busiest airports.

It's not a coincidence or a negative statistics.

The truth they don't want to accept, at least openly is that without Igbos, Nigeria would be less vibrant and worse off economically. Aside acting like a glue that helped to stick Nigeria together, Igbos contributed the most in helping Nigeria develop economically.

They try to mock us by calling us developers, but that's exactly what Igbos did for Nigeria. We helped more than anyone else to build a country that never accepted nor appreciated our efforts.

All Igbos need to pursue a common goal of leaving Nigeria by all means necessary. We have nothing to lose but everything to gain since Aftcta will enable us to have access to the entire African market.

well as much as you have a point, most of the busiest airports in the world are in China. note China is not among the 20 richest nations on earth. So we cannot always conclude that air travel is a measure of prosperity.
Again, in the US the 3 busiest airports are Atlanta, Georgia, Dallas Texas, and Denver, Colorado not necessarily the richest cities. The Igbos are obviously the business class in Nigeria so they travel more. The average Igbo man lives outside the Southeast hence the need to travel.

You hear them speaking Yoruba because that's the only language you understand. I am Igbo, I speak Yoruba. I don't know the part of Lagos you stay in but go around your city and find out. We have more Igbos in Lagos than in Anambra. ut then, no need for this argument lets hope the government would one day take a census of Lagos with tribal demography in mind.
