I don't get, does the market not seem Nigerian enough? On the issue of the yellow filter, it's one of the many failings of Hollywood, they are used mainly when showing developing(read: poor) countries and are supposed to depict warm climates. It's a dangerous stereotype, & I honestly can't wait for it to die out.

Also the accent is annoyingly bad, mostly because a majority of the cast are black Africans Americans, still I don't think that should be an acceptable excuse. All in all though, it's a series I thoroughly enjoy.

Yeah bto. The movie is actually targeted to Americans. As a Nigerian guy watching it you'd know most things are just off. They could have casted some Africans for some roles especially abishola's mother. The co-director and writer who is abishola's friend in the series lived in the UK all her life and could barely speak yoruba. They couldn't even depict our Culture well and someparts were built on stereotypes. Apart from Abishola who I know that schooled here in nigeria. The Rest of the Cast were African Americans or had Nigerian descent. Though the series was okay but it could be perfect if they used true Nigerians for some roles it would have been appealing to viewers at home and everywhere.

You get it, it's actually not that hard to use the right people for the right roles, but here we are, I guess we can't have it all. If you check the recent episode of Legacies (the series is mostly rubbish though) there's a scene were some of the cast were speaking Yoruba with a near perfect accent.

Yeah all the cast were African Americans or had African descent. I noticed it too even at the airport and at the market. And also the uniform the security at the airport was wearing isn't the real uniform. So I'm thinking maybe CGI was used for some part(corona period). And also for the market they might have made use a filming studio. But the director claimed they shot here.
The pictures on the wall were probably use by the set decorator. The first picture shown a black man who look like abishola's father shaking a white man
While the second one showed someone like a British administrator or a prime minister with his wife.

If there were no pandemic
I would hav drop this and accept it was shot in Nigeria...
But the tv series ain't a top spending show like that...and looking at pandemic issue...it will be difficult to shoot a movie in another country right now....

Focus on the market...it looks very unreal

Real Ke, twas Eric and that fat aunty that really tried. Eric's mom is more of Igbo than Yoruba. Twas like twas forced. So many scenes not necessary only because they want to pass the message and the big record label trying to sell afrobeats.
