Command Day Secondary School is a military-owned high school. This means that the Federal government owns it through its military. Please this has nothing to do with Edo State government.

We know that both state and local governments are failures, but it's good to apportion blames appropriately.
Re: Army day secondary school , Benin: I Almost Cried When I Visited My Old School by trevorhorace(m): 7:30am On Oct 21, 2021
Command can never be like this. Command is a federal/military school. They are known for maintenance. Army secondary school however is state owned.

What should we do now? Contribute money to renovate it? You should go ask the school board some questions. E no concern Nairaland. Itchy fingers.

You don't think that such publicity is necessary? Should such matters be treated in private?

Why are people surprised or calling out Governor Obaseki of Edo State as if any other state in Nigeria is doing better?

Several years ago when I served in Osun State, it was almost the same thing, dilapidated school buildings everywhere.

The only state that is doing better on this is Lagos State and you all know the reason, Lagos State is a cosmopolitan city, and the wealth there is immeasurable, so even if the Governor and his godfather loot all the money, there will still be enough to keep the public schools in shape.

In summary, Nigeria is already a failed State. Forget the fact that you still see luxury cars and rich people all over Nigeria, even in the war torn Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan and Somali, there are millions of rich people living large there so Nigeria is in the league of Yemen right now.

All thanks to Muslim Jihadist leaders controlling the federal government of Nigeria, who have over the years emboldened leadership corruption and looting which others have learned from them

This is what IPOB is fighting against. This is what bad leadership has reduced Nigeria to.

And the painful thing is that the fools among us who collect 30k from these bad politicians would come here to defend their masters and even tag this thing to party.

They will say it's PDP, as if PDP is different from APC. Akpabio was in PDP but now in APC. Edo governor was in APC but now in PDP. FFK is now in APC. So, what makes PDP different from APC?

The fools among us will see this wickedness and remain mute, except it has to do with Ipob or igbos

Politicians should be held accountable, blaming their political parties isn’t the right thing to do because in that same party they belong to, they’re governors who are doing wonders.

Blaming their political parties somehow shield them from blame, encouraging them to change parties after failing serially.

Upon changing parties, they fool the people into believing the political party was responsible for their failures and they’re ready for a new beginning.

This is the type of defeatist approach that is killing Nigeria

Why can't you fix the school?
Does not have to be at once but piece by piece you can do it if it's something you're passionate about. You only have X amount of time to live, and sometimes the things that pain use are calls for us to act which time is still available. May passed by and didn't care, but you stopped and cared, so why not go all the way.

Nigerian government has told you who they are for 60+ years. No need arguing with them anymore.

With this comment, there's hope for Nigeria if more of us think this way. At least no government can stop anyone from helping out in anyway.

Even if one can't sponsor everything that needs to be done, influence others, reach out to top shots who have forgotten that school... And the change will begin

wow, most secondary schools don't have chairs in your state? Just hearing this for the first time. Obaseki has refused to employ teachers in edo state, the whole education system from primary to tertiary has been completely ruined by the governor.

I thought many people were insulting Oshiomole then? Now, Edolites decided to ignore their most performing governor's advice to vote a failure. They should enjoy him till next elections.

stop saying what you know nothing about, army day secondary school is solely a public school, I attended the school, there's no longer a barrack there, it was a former barracks, I spent five years there and since the 90s it has a very insignificant or little army presence, I really don't understand you people o, stop spreading lies, how would students stay in class when there's no single chair in their class rooms? This is the govt responsibility.

Western boys, even the army children school was renovated, some notable government schools were all renovated, did you ever ask yourself what stopped them from renovating Army day the government responsibility as you claim was skipped? Or government nor see that one?

A block of classroom was built and donated by some old boys of the school which was fully funished, what happened to the building and the chairs you can go see it for yourself

You stayed 5years in the area and you think you know it all, I have stayed more than 15years. I didn't attend army day but I had friends and close relatives who attended and graduated long before you need.

There are lots of things and politics going down within that school which you think you know and trust me you don't know.

Government can only fully run that school a 100% if and only there are little or no interference from the army.

The revenues the so called few soldiers are generating which runs into "millions" from within and outside the barracks what are they using it for?

Development can only come to that army day and Barack's as a whole if those soldiers are totally evacuated from that place and allow the necessary authority to do things without interferring. I rest my case here!

Are you sure this is a command school because Command schools are administered by NAECS Nigerian Army Educational corps and there is no way any command in Nigeria would be in this state,Commands are party FG and NA funded too so I’m sure it can’t be this bad,is this solely a public school or a NA command school?
Whether it is owned by fg or state government, our leaders governing this country should be held responsible.

OP,
Your own is even better.
Come to All Saints Secondary school Ehere Aba or to Ngwa High School Abayi Aba where I had my post-primary education,
And see the real wreckage for yourself.
The sole reason for all these neglect of our education sector by these animals you call leaders is because their children can not be found anywhere near these eyesore of a school.
And FYI, don't expect anything different soon unless there is a revolution in this animal kingdom.
I think I taught briefly at ngwa high school during my nysc days 1996.
Truth of the matter is that all sectors of the economy has been devastated by these recessionists.
Public secondary school I attended at oshodi from form 3 to 5 (was pulled out of catholic sch) I can tell you had better standards that some of the best private secondary schools you currently have. Book, writing materials, regular changing of furnitures etc was even given to us.
The amazing thing is that you will still find people living in poverty, penury still defend government despite the glaring failure.

The OP is being mischievious , as an Ex commando, I am 100% certain that is not a command school.

It might be in the barracks e.g army day and others controlled by the state government but that is not a command school.

Even here in Lagos, the army day school and about another one in ojo cantonment are controlled by Lagos state govt their teachers are paid by Lagos state, even their principals.

Command schools are controlled by NAEC, some of them are even MOD staff.

Discipline and knowledge smiley

Yesterday was the first time I would be seeing my former secondary school in over two years since I relocated from my former area.
To say I was shocked with what is left of the school is an understatement, it was an eyesore.
No teachers, no chairs, I almost shed tears.
Bushes has almost taken over the school, major part of the roof has been ruined, all the buildings are dilapidated.
Students sits on bare floor to learn, and it's a shame I learnt there are no teachers in the school that parents now employ and pay teachers through community efforts.
What is edo state govt doing? We didn't vote you guys to destroy our system.
Welcome to the Nigeria Zoo.

Corruption has eaten up the government deeply in such a way that even if you contribute money to fix it, they will pocket it.

This school is pure evidence that Nigeria is swiftly going backward.

Billions are being channeled to education with nothing to show for it.

The old men leading this country are the worst set of Nigerians.

There is nothing we can say. A country where our vote doesn't count.
If we protest, they'll send hoodlums.

If we stay calm they will create a new rule so as to trigger our anger yet again. If we vote...

They've shut the doors in all areas of kicking them out.
Bros our votes dey count!
So u think numbers are bandied during and atfter collation of results?
Our problem is unpatriotic leaders, wicked leaders and our institutions that supposed to check all these anomalies r seriously weak.
What has happened to umar, the ccb boss?
Senate summoned him, till today he hasn't deem it neccessary to answer the call cos he knows they won't do jack.
When a party automatically elevate the govr and president to act as the leader of the party, that is where our problems begin.
In south africa, the anc sacked thabo mbeki not thru general elections o.
Can that happen in Nigeria?

How hard is it to know that education is hatred.

If education was valued and cherished the way money is cherished, then we would have it maintained and to die for, but education is simply just an art of learning how to improve a life at the expense of another man’s life

Wasn't he in APC before cross-carpeting? Must you bring political parties into everything? Sometimes think critically before you type.
You seem to have forgotten that while he was in APC, the APC family in Edo State was disatisfied with his performance and beginning from his very first year in office began to publicly discredit his style and quality of governance but the PDP argued that he was doing excellently well and that APC was complaining because he wasn't sharing money hence a Tinubu vs Ambode situation should be disallowed in Edo. So the monicker you quoted is perfectly in order. Meanwhile Lagos is growing in leaps and bounds infrastructure wise.
