Do you know that this same 20w50 oil you’re bad mouthing has its full synthetic versions from most major oil brands like Mobil. Valvoline. Liquimoly. etc? If you use that oil weight in a country that never sees very cold weather your engine will be fine although some newer engines from 2010 above tended to have tighter tolerances in oil passages and recommended lighter weight oils exclusively in their manuals.

True story my dad purchased a new car back in 2005 and after the first year warranty changes at the dealership he started using Mobil XHP and changed it religiously every 4-5k kms or twice a year and till date that engine has never consumed a drop of oil, has no sludge, never smoked or developed any issue. When he wants to change the oil it would still look amber/golden as if the oil had never even been used. His mechanic takes it to use in his generator. It’s a toyota 2RZ EFI engine that has been using Mobil super XHP 20w50 conventional oil for 15 years till today.

Even i myself that uses synthetic 5w30 my oil must be black by 5k kms when I’m supposed to change it out so I believe in everything concerning vehicles timely maintenance is key.

We still sold the one with bad engine.

https://www.nairaland.com/6808589/sold-reg-kia-rio-2006

Never was a fan of anything naija used. I have preached that several times. Those that are able to care for their tokunbo cars at the early stage are my main target audience ... It is a niche market for me ....

That been said, on the above advert on Rio that was sold that needed engine replacement. We should keep in mind.

Once their is a replacement engine the car's body still remain old , even though replacement engine is only "60k Miles" .... Wear and tear on other parts will still be an issue down the road. By the time the new owner fixes this and that. The money use would have been enough to buy a tokunbo.......

Either way congratulations on the sales

When it comes to used naija cars , am not a big fan of it .. Have made it clear several times on Nairaland.

The ones I retire from my uber fleet are sold by my mechanic. Once my mechanic advices me to get rid of it I do it. He looks for buyers himself and sells it off. And my currant ones on uber are still serving me well.

You are mechanic and u have created a niche for urself for both Tokunbo cars and used cars sales. You are at an advantage than me ..

But me personally I just don't have the passion or the motivation for it .. Car business itself is stressful talk less of selling naija used ...... There is market for everything and of coz naija used cars. Even naija used cars sells faster than Tokunbo......

I respectfully say that I am not shifting goal post , but stating the obvious. There is a market for it , I just don't have the passion for it..

My early years on uber thought me alot on how the maintenance culture is in the Nigerian Auto world. Have been dramatize by it..........

Just ramble on and on, fit in one word here and there, hopefully you'll successfully divert attention and confuse the dull minds, lol
