Uzomarrr123:how many people have your family business empowered other than your family members... we are talking about the populace at large... the percentage of people having a decent life abroad far outweighs the number of people your family business have empowered |

Uzomarrr123: You keep calling Davido up and down... Davido career is in naija so its understandable if he choose to buy in naija. Also social media and reality are two different things. E fit shock you that he has no property but just staying in rentals. Forget hype. I don't know what he truly has and neither do you 4 Likes |

Uzomarrr123: Uzomarr with all due respects these are the kind of statements that produces a beastly human. people who think like this will end up being soo materialistic and selfish. I know a nigerian man with this type of mentality… this man works a whole lot. He has a family. Lets analyze this His reason for his action- he is trying to finish his house back home, not because he lives in nigeria but because of pressure from people back home and what they would say. He neglects his duties as a father and husband because of the pressure back home. In my opinion sir with all due respect your uncle is not better off than anyone who doesn’t have a house I hold My greatest respect not for successful men but Men that have been able to keep their homes (marriage especially ) in a country like the uk. My observation this far is, anyone can come to the uk and actually be successful and achieve the greatest heights both financially and career wise but homes are seriously being fought against. This society we live in , is seriously anti marriage. Please married people planning to relocate take heed i beg you. Come to the uk, but pls be wise always. Money, success or fame is not worth ruining your homes for. Don’t get me wrong? Am I against financial success? No Am i against building houses? No, infact i will come for d house warming. My point: keep your sanity, use money for what it is meant to be used for but don’t let it use you man. Don’t let money define right or wrong for u, don’t let money form your process of thoughts and ideologies. Lets use money and keep it its place.#mammon 28 Likes 1 Share |

Honestly feel that guy "Uzor' might be some how right, I look around here and I see the strange eyes the whites look at the blacks, an economic migrantt, infact I was looking at one elderly black man in the bus, he looks so defeated and out of place, it is very clear at old age, the reality start downing on you that you don't belong here, the expression of the people around will display it. It will be clear the segregation, but at this age u can summont it, but when u get old, it becomes a strange feeling, cos you appear in the mist of white. at different bus station, the black kids move only with the black. You will eventually feel odd at old age. Now while here, I realized why older Nigerian will prefer to return home. It is even evident in some care home I have been, I hardly see any black old man, I keep wondering where they keep them 13 Likes |

amanze54: Infact both parties are somehow right. Our reasons for coming to the UK are different. Some are here planning never to return to Nigeria while some have plans to return. So buying or building a house in Nigeria is not out of place for someone planning to return. You have easier access to good healthcare, education for kids, saner environment here obviously but discrimination based on race is something I feel will take centuries to go away. 3 Likes |

amanze54:maybe the black people no dey like care homes cost of the cost involved and you should know that the percentage of black to white is negligible... ive seen people on youtube say they are the only blacks in a particular city/area... so its not surprising not to see a black man in the care homes... or maybe they are relocating back to Africa... |

amanze54: The irony of it, in old age when you move back to Nigeria you will still feel like a stranger. Just ask those who have gone down this path. I know 3 family friends who relocated back to Nigeria in their late 60s early 70 years after yearssssss in America. Today all 3 have quietly returned back to America . They just couldn't adjust or feel at home due to years living in an organised society. Visit and living because two completely different experience, they now visit but don't live . Even the visit has stopped as the level of insecurity rises 6 Likes |

IamE: I believe that Tech pays higher than the average earnings so when you are climbing you be able to afford a comfortable life However however.... I feel Tech is not easy to enter because it very heavily "relevant work experience driven ". So I am cautious about advising people into tech if they don't have relevant work experience But.... if you want to start from the bottom / lowest level in tech and then climb up...ok as it then becomes easier if you want to go down this route and don't have experience 2 Likes |

Uzomarrr123: This makes no sense to me. I haven't been to 9ja in 10 years (exactly 10 years today), my children have never been and most likely won't go for another 2 years at least or more if we all converge in the UK next year. Home is where me and my family are at right now. Why on earth do I need a property in Nigeria? So those of us with properties abroad and not in 9ja no get sense? Interesting. 4 Likes |

to each his own o, move bac to Nigeria don't move back to Nigeria; invest in Nigeria don't invest in Nigeria. Everybody's preference is different. There was a time on the last LITUK thread a gentleman defended investing in Nigeria. He came back after a few weeks to lament when the value of his investments had tanked significantly as a result of the fall i the value of naira. He would have been richer in Naira if he did not do anything but kept his money in the bank. Loads of older people here regretting sending money to Nigeria to build houses when they first came to the UK. In hindsight, they wished they had used such funds as deposit to buy their own homes over here. They would have been set up for retirement with homes by the sea. Instead they have houses in Nigeria where nobody lives and even those that have tenants, tenants dont pay and the value of these properties is nothing if they sell and bring the funds back. As for me and my house for now, any investment in Nigeria is with funds already in Nigeria. 10 Likes |

LagosismyHome:Thing is at least its a promising career and I feel life is all about what you are willing to sacrifice for what you want... its better to sacrifice and start from the lowest level than to remain in a menial job for a very long time, if the graduate jobs don't come... as at when due... besides in the UK tech has this visa route(global talent visa) which is for a period of 3 years and this is attainable if you meet the criteria when you can't find a sponsored job..... So if you use your PSW years and the GTV years, you're already on your way to ILR..... and I think with GTV alone you qualify for ILR... if I'm not mistaken |
