In Nigeria prisons,there are people on awaiting trials for over 3years and more. At Police Stations if no one comes to bail you, they'll move you to prison and that's the end of the story until God turns your page.

There is an American Oil Bunkerer who claimed that during the Babangida Era he had paid one Nigerian Justice Williams a $1 Million Bribe in order to kill the Case against him and help him get out of detention which he did.
He Claimed that Justice Williams acted as a Business Front for Babangida

I believe he was sentence to death for a deserving crime but, you know, in Nigeria files can miss from the office any time due to negligence. So you may not have room for appeal.
