From my experience because I live in Germany. IF YOU ARE IN GERMANY ILLEGALLY, or through asylum… You will suffer for years, and wouldn’t make anything in the long run. It doesn’t worth it. Unless you get into something illegal like most people do, once you’re caught… your life is practically fu***ked and you’re done. But if you’re legal, there are freaking so many jobs in Germany. Yes, Germany is expensive compare to countries like Portugal or Poland, but the wages in Germany is high as well. It’s logical to learn German, to integrate and for more job opportunities. I can’t speak German for years and I’m doing not bad… I work with English… everyone seems to speak English a bit. Just go on Linkedln to check various professional job opportunities in Germany. Germany is lacking labor force, the demand is high, especially skilled labors in STEM. Conclusion: Germany doesn’t need the society rejects from Nigeria, if you’re skilled in Engineering, IT, Health, I mean STEM in short, you’ll love Germany. And stop billing people abroad, they work hard for their money, unlike people stealing, doing Yahoo or corrupt politicians in Nigeria. |

otunbaajamu:I have been to almost all of the European countries, presently living in Canada. One of the biggest obstacle for foreigners in Europe is the language, if you are able to surmount that by learning the language, then you face the greatest hurdle of racism this is manifested when you seek employment and other opportunities, as such your potential for economic growth is severely restricted. Like someone said above having a business or being very highly skilled in a hands on profession are one of the ways to expand your opportunities for economic growth with no or limited obstacles in relation to the locals. From my personal experience living in an English speaking country puts you in a better position for success no matter how racist the locals might be. As for Canada racism here is so minimal that it is hardly noticeable, in fact compared to nepotism and tribalism in Nigeria, it is non existent. Imagine a country where the government gives you the exact same treatment as their citizens, note you have to be residing legally to enjoy these benefits. Everyone have the exact same opportunity for growth. |

Am just learning from some of you that have been abroad.....but I want to comment where dude expect his german based friend to call him directly instead of WhatsApp to prove his wealth ...pls remove such mentality from your thoughts when you go there you see the need to economise this Europeans are wiser than us Based on history and books I have read I think Germany is a first class country of which wheather good or bad if you have a good paper , good health and hustling mentality you must make it there than an average Nigerian working 14 hours everyday just set your compass well the use Euro and much developed |

thebosstrevor1:This guy daft gan. Many Nigerians are coming to Germany especially Munich and Berlin to work daily. Because you don't know doesn't mean you should be claiming like you have been there before. What kind of person be this one. He is even arguing with people living there. Chai. You're hopeless |
| Re: Life In Germany: What Is It Like For Nigerians Who Migrated? by Buliwyf: 6:09pm On Oct 27, 2021 |
thebosstrevor1:Mumu they post jobs in English. Most young Germans speak English. Leave your hamlet for once oponu. Where I work, its not even only Germans working there. Swedish, Spain, France. All working together. What language do you think we all speak together? Your native tongue? So much dumbness in one person. He can't even think and gather his thoughts before arguing. Tesla is opening a factory in Berlin. They've already employed 2 Nigerians I know of there. This one is so hopeless he can't think straight. |

OBUKOMENA:My man, are you saying everyone in Germany is broke? Find out stuffs from people before concluding. In Scandinavia, subscribing for local unlimited calls and unlimited data is cheaper than subscription for international calls and you can't do both at a time, as a reasonable being, what would you choose?. Anybody can make it anywhere so far you're hard-working and luck smiles on you. |

[quote author=OBUKOMENA post=107092011]Good evening nairalanders! I hope you had a good day? So, let me just go straight to my reason for opening this thread, and I hope I would be able to convey my thoughts impeccably: It seems like some of our people who travelled to Germany aren't doing so well after all (I stand to be corrected, though!) I have a friend over there whom I am preparing to go meet. This guy has been there since 2017. He hardly calls me on normal call. He would rather call on WhatsApp. Reason being so that he could get in touch cheaply. The first and only time I asked him to send me something, he told me pointblank he didn't have. Just this afternoon, I heard a colleague's father just came back to Nigeria from there after 21 solid years! He had abandoned his wife and children here in Nigeria. If he was doing so well over there, would he not have arranged for his family to come over and stay with him - at least? It depend on the kind of visa the person use 2 enter germany |

Buliwyf:As far as i am concerned, the lack of german language skills will stop you from getting any good job. Btw, Someone will think that because you are in Germany, you will have sense but No, the environment and society you are living didn't even influence your life. Imagine someone saying young germans speak English. and then if they speak English, is English the national language?? Btw, Can't you not write your opinion without abuse. If you want to go down lane, lets do it. You are fucking low wager because you act like one only God who knows if you spend all your times sharing ad papers in the summer and winner.Lastly, you can shove your further opinion into your lose black ass. |

Rolly22:This is the most insightful post I've seen on this topic. They come from a country where they've always felt entitled despite not paying taxes. So it amazes them when they learn they have to pay in these countries. It can sometimes be a long bridge to travel. |
