What is really going on in Anambra state?

I come here to nairaland to read up on events, and all I see are deaths destruction and all kinds of images alleging almost anarchy and bedlam.

One of my contractors ( a non-Igbo) calls me and tells me that his workers who are working in Anambra state now are frightened, because according to him, “tension is too high in Anambra now”.

But then I call my friend from one of the core Anambra towns, and he told me that he and his buddy are somewhere attending “uka mgbede” “na enweta onwe ha na one nkwobi side”, and this was in the evening, and in one of the alleged “hot spot” town in Anambra state!

His own account is quite interesting, because he delivered it in a figure of speech saying, “the story that it rained is true, but the story that it rained so much that graves where excavated, is a lie”.

How can there be so much dissimilarity or dissonance in information about Anambra state these days?

What is really going on?

Please, if you are in Anambra state now, could you please give us an unbiased account of the security situation in the state now.

Am from Anambra as you asked (Agulu town) and for the recent, I still reside in my hometown for a project.

The Anambra State I do see in nairaland is not the Anambra state am actually living in,I mean they are very much oecumenically apart.

There was attack on security personnel but the issue is just between the security forces and IPOB and not the mass.
I can boldly say this......."Anambra is calm"...but when it will not be calm for you is when you want yourself to be noticed".

There's this moniker in nairaland that most of post about Anambra is just to cause tension....... oyigboupdate. My state is cool but anything that tries to deviate it from the coolness is what do lead the tension itself.

Anambra state is very ok . Just make sure you don't follow any poliician around or go to political rally. Dont talk trash about ipob and dont wear party cloth. Dont campaign for anyone. If you are a security officer dont make the mistake of coming out with your uniform You will be fine. Ipob does not distop any body

Anambra is slowly becoming a shadow of itself. From 6pm to 7am if you are not indoors, your name will be sorry. The crime rate is too high as people are robbed in broad daylight. I spent a week in Anambra this month and I was unable to do what I came for due to the insecurity.

Both Igbos and non Igbos are scared. Everyone I talked to doesn't hide the fear they have in the turn of events in the State. Most People have relocate to the neighbouring States while others permanently relocate to other regions.

I can bet with my left Nyash that, this man has not been to Anambra this year. He is either a Kaduna Igbo, Kano igbo or Lagos Igbo. He is enjoying the peace in other Regions while talking about the Anambra we know.

Knowing fully well that following their abysmal performance, APC under the leadership of Buhari has decided to take power in any state of interest by force!

Using the Nigerian Army and the state resources to harass and kill harmless citizens all in the name of fighting God knows what!

I was following your points until I got to the bolded words and I started to suspect that you may not really be speaking the truth.

In the original post, I stated that someone in a major city of the state told me that he and his friends were enjoying themselves in a local nkwobi joint by the time I spoke with him, around 9 -10pm.
That is why I became confused, because it is not rhyming with what people like you are saying here.

Borno will be Childs play compared to Anambra, if the activities of IPOB is not halted. And the entire East will be affected. I'm based in Owerri and I know what's going on in the EAST. They think they are doing Buhari, the North or West, but they are doing themselves. They even had masquerades in the rally! haha

One thing I know is that even ordinary private securities and vigilantes these days walk on eggshells. Most don't move in their marked vehicles.

Look at what you are saying. You even proof that the State is not peaceful. Your friend is bragging that he and his friends were able to drink at a particular joint till 10pm. This is just one amongst the hundreds and thousands of joints in Anambra who don't operate beyound 6pm. If Anambra is peaceful, your friend won't say what he said.

I guess you're not in Anambra. Anom na Nnewi kita, nwanne obodo adirokwa mma. If you were even close to Anambra you will understand. Lots of UGM. Some even came to Nnewi two days ago. Aren't people free again to say their minds in Igboland?
Has it ever happened that Igbo stop holding opinions, differing in their opinions, and still going about their normal businesses freely and safely?
When did holding a contrary view start meaning death sentence in Igboland?
As ezigbo nwa afo Igbo, I understand our dilemma as a people, but we should never lose who were are in the pursuit of whatever goal.
Hopefully when Kanu is released (he is a fierce republican who believes in total free speech) he would denounce and distance IPOB from all those killing others for holding contrary opinion.
In Igboland "Oha ka". And that "Oha" is an amalgam of individuals and groups with disparate views, beliefs and opinions.
That is what makes us Igbo.
