The prayer of SW APC was for a southern presidential candidacy from PDP, that way it would have been an easy ride for Tinubu or even Osinbanjo , let me note that these candidates are not in any way stronger than other candidates from the rest of the north but as a ruling party, there is an advantage.


PDP played a good chess game, the strategy remains mapping out a clear destination (Atiku) but creating a confused path on how to get there... The new PDP is an Atiku loyalist, the game was for a chairman from the North to reign who will step down for the the deputy Chairman from the south. This is why there was a huge negotiation on who will be the deputy chairman as he will eventually be the Chairman once Atiku takes that mantle, the game was played well leading to the downfall of Oyinlola who will be seen to be a strong head party chairman in the future..


APC SW is in a very uncomfortable position today, as Atiku has seized PDP , it's not the same for them in APC as the northern folks will now have to argue that a southern candidacy will be the weaker candidacy for their party.

Forget the homage paid to Tinubu or Osibanjo by some of the Northern elites, in the mind of an average North, one is a pastor and the other is a known Criminal and part of Nigeria's problem. Interestingly, it's now the prayer of PDP for APC to chose Tinubu as their candidate..

You see why the north love Buhari is cause of his pious and conservative nature, this is why the stood for him against Atiku who is deemed liberal and corrupt.

Already, the APC has lost the south with a perceived SW candidacy and only have the north to contend, this is why some of the party members are claiming it's right to match PDP northern candidate with an APC Northern candidate but that will mean losing the SW electorate.

The only option for SW APC remains proposing a muslim Muslim ticket as it doesn't make sense to the core North to have a Christian northern representative as VP.

Finally the north will once win again, their biggest fear was the unity of the south but so long as there is a division within, it will definitely be a long time again before a southern becomes president.
2023 will surely reformat the brains of some SW APC faithfuls.....
