This past week ... ran into unusual heavy traffic on way home on the highway. Crawling to the cause of the hold up .... a crash ... SUV ... at the fork of the road ... apparently was undecided if to go left and down the local exit or right and up to the flyover. ... still on the gas decided too late to go right and smashed into the buffer and the head of the steel reinforced concrete divider. The SUV came to a stop two lanes over.... front smashed all the way to the windshield.... and the complete engine sitting surrounded by debris in the left lane next to point of impact. It's a pretty new model SUV and I'm now wondering if this is a new design .... separation of engine from body on heavy impact. Have you ever seen such?
Below... scrambled to get a shot of the scene but too late.... just managed to capture part of the SUV..... eagle eyes can say what brand and model!

On newer cars engine is designed to fall to the ground during front impact to prevent it from ending up in the driver's leg
