there is one building in my parents street, this idiot have once sealed it, only to unsealed it after the woman bribe them, as I'm typing all tenants in that house have all vacated because of the fears of collapsed

Oga that letter is a desperate attempt to prevent the remaining buildings from been pulled down. That letter was backdated claiming that they are comfortable with the remaining two except the one that collapsed. It is Nigerians and their level of desperation.

I hope he would spit out the names of government officials he offered bribe to before he was allowed to add 6 floors. We all know how this country system works. Bribery and Corruption everywhere including we the non-civil servants.

I agree with you..and the man has the mouth to talk about the owner constructing 21 stories as against 15...then why do we have regulatory body to monitor compliance?

It has been happening in Lagos and they never learn..Sadly another one may still happen in the future, though we pray it does not.

This was exactly my thought the last time I passed through Gerrard. The rate at which high rise is coming up there is so alarming, and that is a place on water. Of course high rise can be built, but the guy didnt spend enough in the foundation. The whole of Ikoyi is about to be turned to VI extension. Since these rich people are going to start living on the ocean.

If such a thing as inferior material existed, then we should expect more of this because, others around the area most likely used the same material, even the other 2 houses would have been constructed from the same "inferior material". Is it Cement (Dangote, Bus, Lafarge) or the sand or is there a special steel that was used in the construction of the building that has not been used to build other houses.

I would prefer to hear causes like low concrete grade, poor design, inadequate substructure and other meaningful words. Saying inferior material is sweeping the whole issue under the carpet.

The general manager of LASBCA should be su suspended pending investigation.

This are criminal who benefited from the bribery.

But after the approved. no follow up again? I weep for this country.

No one observed when the construction exceeded the 15th floor?
The building control agency staff involved should be held responsible along with the owners.
