Lagos is just an overrated urban jungle I swear, that city stinks to the core, from humans living there to infrastructure to houses to traffic to everything in fact, may their souls rest in peace, it is a tragedy, I feel for the families of the lost loved ones..
Remain in your village, we don't need people like you here

Knowing this could have been 100% prevented makes it more sad. This happened simply because the system is corrupt.

Yes that is why I felt they shouldn't say substandard materials because I believe the materials are standard but they are not used in the appropriate way.
It is substandard material, example when you use the wrong rod e.g rods set at a standard to be used for 2 storey, you went to use it for 21 storey.

I understand all these. Thank you. But why say substandard materials. Wouldn't it be better to say they are not following the standard code?
You can use substandard sharp sand in your mix, sub standard iron rods. I don't know about substandard cements. When they do their investigation I believe we will know what really went down apart from what we already know.

It is not dangote or Bua issue here. If you have been following, you will see the builders were togolese and Nigerians that will use 5 bag of cement for 1 trip of sand.

The foundation did not hold because of many factors and not cements
These are assumptions

I have learned to be contended and grateful for everything. No matter the situation I find myself, I have learned to be thankful. Imagine the girl who resumed as the special assistant of the owner....she worked for less than a month, and died in this thing. If she was still looking for a job, she would be alive today. In Everything give thanks, for this is the will of God.

I can bet you that they will not recover some of the bodies. And some will be crushed beyond recognition. Imagine someone trapped within those layers that the deckings closed flat against each other. That person will be pressed flat. I can imagine how such will be. In fact, some will be crushed and packed with the concrete that they wont even account for them.

Let us be grateful for his life and do well.

GOVERNOR SANWO OLU SHOULD MANDATE THE NECESSARY BODY TO GO AND CARRY OUT TEST ON THOSE TALL BUILDINGS in Eko Atlantic city.

There could be more death trap waiting to unfold in the coming months or years.

God forbid !

A building that is sealed has so many people in it. who we go believe. Lagos Govt rise up to the new challenges please.
Fulaniherdmens:
It means that the premises was fully occupied as of the time the building collapsed. Plastering laborer's, food sellers/ogogoro might've been involved. Anyway it's a sad thing that such poor structural work was done. Waste of lives and resources.
Beg the same developer to use that money & build 21 hospital beds in his community that won't cost more than 15m; then boom you will hear something like am not in the govt of any form..
Reminds me of when I was building , my engineer(tribe withheld) was so quack that even as I'm not an engineer I detected some foul play, the mixture of my cement was so Sandy tht I stopped the work. He was so furious and left the site that he is not building, that was my salvation. The next day I sent for a letter of termination of contract asap. He started acting cold and hiding. I took my PA and went to his office, and demanded he sign the goddam papers or else we'll deal with him in the office right their. He signed it and that's how I built a massive duplex at peace. You see don't be decieved that you cant achieve the best quality. Forget cost and embrace durability.

No vex, Ndo, Ema Binu, Ka Yankuri, Doh, Mbok, Sorry...Any one u fall in pls accept it.

he got approval for 15th floor. he build 16th no govt official till it got to 21. Lagos wake up. The civil servant need to desist from playing games with peoples lives
adioolayi:
So sad ...May their souls rest in peace..

Properties owners who engaged services of professionals on drawing Plans which were approved by relevant government agencies after proper vetting......and then turn back on implementing what was approved, engaged developers who connived with them to do something contrary to the plan approved, and also Government field monitoring team who saw these abnormalities when constructions are ongoing and looked away Because bribe is involved....

This is exactly what the consequences of your actions can turn out to be when it backfires..

Lose of innocent souls ....time, resources and all....ALL FORMS OF LOSES!!!

This goes beyond Lagos. Stop the hate and face the fact that Nigerians are greedy and don't care about excellence. Always looking for ways to cut corners.
I'm sure you'll even be worse if given the opportunity to be at the helms of affair
Lagos is the headquarter of building collapse in Nigeria.

udemzyudex:
I believe one of the major reasons why the dead toll is high is because of the response team, they are too slow and lack important tools to do the job effectively.
2months ago, highrise building in florida miami collapsed, more than 80people died.
Response time was swift with all equipments deployed..
There r certain tragedies that occur,no matter how swift the emergency response is, little or nothing can be done.
If it were to be fire outbreak, yes response time from emergency agencies is necessary.
Cos fire moves or grow gradually, this is collapse that happened in a seconds...
Also these r not slabs that collapsed, na entire structure, more than 100metre high being crashed to a pile.
If na slabs, u can easily use cranes to lift each slabs one after the other...

My post is a general statement..not particular to this accident.

More so, we don't know correct position of the approval..

Deputy Governor of Lagos State said he got approval for 21 floors.

Lagos State Head of plan approval said he got approval for 15 floors.

So, which one is correcthuh Till now, we don't know

Over 90 percent of cases of building collapse in Nigeria, happen in Lagos. Lagosians why? why? why are you so wicked? why are you so greedy?
Lagos why do you full of bad people? I dont know why I dislike Lagos people. scamming, stealing, robbery, violence, lack of moral uprightness are what lagosians term as smartness. If you dont engage in such practices, you are suegbe, as far as they are concerned.

Mud houses that were built in my village as early as 1930s, 1940s, some a storey buildings, some, two or more storeys structures are still very much there till today.

Lagosians, who do you this?

Allnacruise:
This ones dey are rescuing nko??

Rescue team are doing their part....

The panel would also do that part independently
The panel will do absolutely nothing.
What has been the outcome of synagogue hotel collapse?
Panel was setup, till today no report of what happened.
This is Nigeria, in uyo the church building that collapsed killing people, panel was setup, reports emerged but it wasn't acted upon. Till today the culprit is walking free..
Nobody sanctioned
