Olinga: Hi, thanks for this information. I would like to clarify if it is compulsory to send an email requesting for an appointment or one would be placed in the queue automatically after applying. We’ve applied for my wife about a month ago but we didn’t send any email thinking it was automatic. |

Hello everyone. Please I need your help on an issue here. Background Story. BRP expires 11th November, 2021. But due to an extension request for project submission, project submission was extended to sometime in December. Now the challenge is, Coventry Uni has changed student status to part-time from fulltime and we do not know what to do about not overstaying. Because as it stands now, we cannot apply for the PSW as course is yet to be completed and yet do not know what steps to take to ensure that we continue to remain in the country legally. We have sent several mails and visited the school but no sensible solution have been proffered. Everyone keeps acting like this is a novel case. So please my people, has anyone experienced this or know someone who had and what was the workable solution. What does someone do when the visa expires but course is yet to be completed? Abeg I would need all the input I can get. Thanks in advance. Justwise, lagosismyhome, Aprokodaugther and all the other seniors please your inputs are welcome. |

iboboyswag: First off, I would suggest you consulted an immigration consultant ASAP if your university immigration unit cannot advise you of any options. You should have applied for an extension to your student visa long before now. I would have thought that would have been one of the options the university immigration unit would have informed you of as I know of people who have been in a somewhat similar situation and have been notified of that route. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Can't you contact your UNI International services team for advice? Usually, you get additional 4 months after your study for situations like this. You need to do something fast. I would have advised you to go back home and submit your dissertation online and later apply for PSW. However, based on the new rule, you cannot apply from outside the UK.Please try not to overstay as that will stop you from getting psw. iboboyswag: |

I wonder why it was left this late. Immigration consultant will charge so much once they hear of the short time remaining That might be the only option now though. TheGuyFromHR: |

justwise: Long story but the work was assumed poorly done. So extension was sought and granted. But the catch was we didn't realise that extension would be for a longer period past the visa validity. The school then change the status to part-time from fulltime. |

dupyshoo: The truth is that they have not been forthcoming with any worthy advice. They said to apply for exceptional assurance and the links provided spoke of the lockdown period. |

iboboyswag:do this as soon as possible! send a mail to home office telling them you would like extension on your visa as you won’t be able to leave as a result of COVID 19. They usually extend for three months! Many guys have done this that were your in your situation and have used the opportunity to get their PSW. Tobexin: What COVID will stop him from leaving the UK? This excuse would have worked during travel restriction but hardly will this cut it now |

I was thinking the same. There is no more travel restrictions. Maybe testing positive to Covid. justwise: |

iboboyswag: Bro the picture is still not clear and i know this is frustrating but to get to a solution you need to give people a clearer picture of the case. I suggest you contact the UKIV to apply for extension before your visa expires, if the extension from the school is a written one then attach it. Use the link the school sent you and forget the mention of lockdown, add additional paper explaining your situation. Doing that will help you remain legally in the UK during the processing of your application and at the same time you will be able to finish the project. |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by justwise(m): 5:21pm On Nov 05, 2021 |
dupyshoo: Only if that affected his ability to finish the project on time hence the need for extension |
