If this involved a pro-government guy, I would have been suspicious. That it is the 'apolitical' (prolly pro-PDP) Onyema makes the case more credible.

There was a guy in Zimbabwe known as Pius Ncube. He was a brave opponent of Mugabe, and spoke truth to power. But the man was laid low by a CCTV film showing him cavorting around with a woman...who was prolly a ZANU agent.....in violation of his vows as a priest

That was the end of his opposition.

That someone opposes government does not mean such people become immune to temptation or automatically become saints who can never tell a lie and always dress in white robes (Lai Mohammed once upon a time was a principled opponent of army rule). It is possible these are trumped up charges...but it involves an apolitical member of the elite...so I doubt.

That's why when you are opposing government, one should keep his or her nose clean. Trust no one.
