I studied accounting since 2012 and I will advise you accordingly.if you know you want to further your career as an accountant, go for the auditing job.if you know you dont want to be a professional and you are just working to save money to do other things.go for teller.but take note.tellers no dey get time o.and incase of shortage of funds dem dey complete am.me I no want further any career so I follow biz.nothing consign me to be professional

There is no general advice for this issue, it's really personal depending on your circumstances.

My analysis, if you really need money to survive, i.e your family is not buoyant enough to support you assuming you are not paid salary for 2 or 3 months. I will advise you to forget about the audit Job and quietly take the teller Job, as your salary is guaranteed with them. Even as a teller, if you want to improve yourself you can, so far you have extra money to spend for weekend courses. If your family balance well, forget teller job and look for better opportunity.

Tellers, get at least a total of 10k tip in a month depending on your branch, this normally solve their transportation and lunch problems. These days, most tellers have business where they employ people to work for them. More hardworking ones have a lot of branches even. I won't mention the business, if you enter the system you will see for yourself. THOSE WHO KNOW THE BUSINESS SHOULD AVOID MENTIONING IT HERE, SO AS NOT TO PUT THEM IN TROUBLE.

If you work in an audit firm depending on how reputable it is, you will learn more, perhaps have more time and more opportunities than the teller to improve yourself but expect to be owed salary.

If you and your family really needs money and you can't imagine being owed for 2 or 3 months, respect yourself oo. Na person wey see food chop dey talk of career growth make your shoe no go bend one side from trekking.

Both jobs have similar disadvantages, which is expect insults from the higher ranked staff. so this should not be considered.

Analyze your background and choose which is better for you.

I wish I had seen this post earlier before now, so my comment will be on the first page of the post. However, I will give my opinion and it's left for you to choose.

Earlier in my career as far back in 2013 after my ND education, I was opportune to work in an audit firmas an IT student, which take home was 50k, even after leaving back to school (Uni), that was my earnings whenever I came around to work during the semester break.

After graduation in 2018, I worked with this audit firm for two years earning 58k net

Although the money might be small, but I learnt a lot, I grew along the line. Majority of us were chased out after covid-19, but my experience speak for me and till this day, I have not spent a month looking for job, each time I needed a new job, I got it with ease.

To me, I did advise you take the audit job as it will expose you and after a year or some month of growth in different industries, you can start applying to organization with higher pay.

Bank teller job is slavery. You won’t grow and would have limited time. Take up the audit job, you would be glad you did much later.

Go for the bank job for these following reasons
1. As a teller in a bank with such pay you can earn more money that will make you pay for your ICAN exam which your audit trainee job will deprive you.
2. Teller job will give you banking experience that will give you opportunity to advance your career in banking as bank graduate trainee with higher pay after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant and you tender the certificate. I have a friend with similar experience as yours. Most of this owner of small audit firm are selfish, they will frustrate you so that you won't qualify on time with lot of workload that will not make you have time for yourself to read and pass the exam because they know if you get qualified, you will be demanding for higher pay or leave there firm to the BIG FOUR after so much experience that you have garnered from them. I am talking from my experience.

When did Bank Teller become a profession, all I know is that Teller job is a stop gap job or stepping stone

Go for 80k and prepare for your ICAN yourself.

Any accounting firm that pays 50k should be a small name. You need a blue chip on your CV for future bigger jobs

After your ICAN look for KPMG etc or another bigger bank as a full staff (89k teller in a bank is most likely a contract staff. Get the experience and seek full staff in another or same bank)

Work with the accounting firm. U'll get a good career path there. Wen u work in a bank for 10 years as a teller. U are just a teller. And remain one

Do the Audit work and have peace of mind teller you go pay gbese tire nor be as you reason am oooh who nor go nor know

Take the accounting job. Don't even think twice about it. The prospects are significantly better.

Looking for job is job itself.

There are job site he can get update on. For example, job site like:

There are telegram and WhatsApp channels he can join and he did get lots of job update from. I know a telegram channel named "Job planet" he can search for that name in telegram and join the group to get job updates.

Aside those information channels for job updates, hope he has a good CV and cover letter, bcuz that too goes a long way in getting noticed by employer.

Forget teller job, the money still won't amount to anything in this economy. Go for the audit job to train urself. After u are done training, u will start earning more than the bank teller.
