charlesemeka85:When it concerns countries that have sound youths/grassroots development policies that have been followed for decades. Not like a country like ours where everything is disjointed. It takes extra effort from the coach to raise a formidable team than folding arms and waiting for Europe to do all the work. Westerhof did a lot of grassroots work for us to enjoy the growth we had in the early 90s. |

charlesemeka85: We had loads. I can give you a brief understanding of Westerhof. He always believed the team can improve. Owoboukiri was a top Hitman and Efan Ekoku was also promising. That did not stop Westerhof from pushing Yekini. We had Friday Ekpo but it did not stop him from pushing for Okocha. Westerhof was always interested and part of our football. From the U20 to the U17, to the local league. He even went to Calabar to watch an amateur tournament. Still searching for hidden gems. |

oga list all not mention 3 or 4 no coach will have the luxury of over a thousand players in europe where 50% of those play best league and will start grooming men on the rudiments and basics of the game that is the duty of youth team coaches TheGoodJoe: |

I ask one question: Does the citizenship of the coach make a difference in the world today when there are itinerant coaches? I wouldn't mind NFF hiring Pitso 'Jingles' Mosimane. |

charlesemeka85:Having thousands of players in Europe doesn't necessarily mean they are the best for the team. Europe is filled with average players who only leverage on the glamour of the league and playtime to get recognition. The best of our current crop of players began from Nigeria, that alone is testament to the fact that if we put in the work to scout and develop we'll find numerous talents who can play for the eagles. |

Mujtahida:There is a difference between suspicion and signing bogus deals. Or are you saying Rohr did not read the contract or know what he was signing? |

charlesemeka85: Do you think we have the best players in every position in the national team today? Can our team compete with the likes if Spain, Italy and Belgiun for every position? If your answer is no, then we need to keep searching and grooming to increase our pool of quality. |

Mujtahida:But Westerhof and Keshi could get the home base players to deliver. With a right program, we can get the home based to contribute to the team's pool. |

charlesemeka85:Well that one na your school of thought Not mine Wetin d foreign based players dey play besides a few I doubt they’d get 3rd in the nations cup this time around I can mention a ton of players that were picked from the local league over the years before Rohr that have made this country proud Do you know the number of stars that didn’t get to play for the eaglets or flying eagles |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by charlesemeka85(m): 11:32am On Nov 20, 2021 |
lovewins:wetin Dey kill una and still be a menace and cankerworm in Nigeria as a whole is sentiment and prejudice Oga like I said before dis una pity and clamour for home based players will never work. It is the duty of grassroots and youth team coaches to discover talents and if this talents do well in competitions they will be recommended to the snr national team coach for him to hv a close look No right thinking national team coach will ignore players in top leagues in Europe doing well for those back. This can only happen when we lack a decent player in one of the positions in the team Local based players lacks the basics and exposure to excel in tournament like the World Cup. The so called players aren’t even the best in African club football. No be the same home based players I watched against Mexico? |

charlesemeka85:I don’t understand what that means but from an analytical stand point Keshi mixed both home & foreign based Keshi’s model is obviously the best to be followed for any country to progress The coach is the problem not really the players in my opinion. An example back then Oboabona In my opinion there should be like at least 10% quota for home based players |
