Personally, I don't want the Nigerian-U.S deal for the Cobras to go through. Honestly, I don't like the fact that our technicians will be left out of the maintenance procedures of the platforms. Instead, we should get the Mi 28ne and if possible, the Ka 52.

I think the LST from Damen is less expensive than what a Makassar class SSV would cost the Nigerian Navy.

We cannot really say what changes the Philippines Navy requested for or systems they did not add. So it's quite difficult to compare like for like.

A good example is the Makassar class SSV which Peru is building. They are more expensive than the same Makassar Philippines got.

While the SSV would be my first choice, I don't think it's a practical choice for the Nigerian navy. Especially when you take into account the Navy has a requirement to replace NNS Ambe & Ofiom. An SSV would come with the requirement of new training and SOP especially when compared to the LST.

The usage of an SSV is limited when compared to an LST. If there are no port facilities or if available port facilities are contested, what happens?

If neighbouring countries are hostile to you what also happens, how do you dock?

With an LST, you only need a beach. Whether it's a time of conflict or disaster relief.

I don't think an SSV is a requirement for the Nigerian Navy at this stage, what we need is to have a second LST and a minimum of 2 x Corvettes and at least 2 x Frigates.

Yeah. Taking pictures in a military base is illegal, I know that, but there's nothing illegal in his statements tho.
