I think NAF is more interested in replacing the Alpha Jet than procuring a Frontline jet.

The JF-17 is Chinese and shares quite a number of similarities with the J-10. I don't see NAF buying the JF-17 and J-10 at the same time.

NAF would be eyeing the JF-17 block 3, but the service considers an AH and replacing the Alpha Jets as more pressing priorities.

I don't think we would see additional JF-17 block 2 orders if NAF actually buys the M-346FA.

Yes, this is what I'm saying, I don't think we will see any additional JF-17 block 2 with NAF, block 3 is their target, and I think production will start 2022 or 2023, and it would be similar to the Chinese J-10C, with it AESA radar.
The iconic Alpha jets, need a well deserved rest, I don't think any country in the world has utilized the Alpha jets like Nigeria, it has served it purpose, and the 346FA is the best trainer jet to replace the legendary Alphas.

Understandable, but I think there is diversification of weapons by the Egyptians recently, they are no longer relying heavily on American weapons, although still depends on American military aids but I understand your point.
I rate the Algerian military too.
they rely heavily on The US and Middle East for defence aid.....without the billions of dollars of aid they get they would be fvcked.

We also have a similar saying here - until the lions have their own historians, the story of the hunt will always glorify the hunter.

This will do too grin

But what if the lion doesn't stop with the hunter and eats the historian too grin grin grin

Another day, another Nigeria Helicopter purchase news.

Turkish Aerospace, Airbus and HAL vie for attack helicopter contract
The Nigerian Air Force, which is looking for attack helicopters to boost its firepower, is currently conducting negotiations with the European manufacturer Airbus and India's HAL. But the Turkish TAI, solidly supported by Ankara, has a head start with its T-129 model.

Does the article (behind paywall) name any source for HAL and TAI in negotiations with the Nigerian armed forces?

Nigeria won't buy the sanctions vulnerable Turkish helicopter or the untidily developed Indian Chopper that cannot be supported with enough spares and maintenance. They will use a phantom airbus chopper acquisition to flash the Americans.
Eventually they will buy US made AH1Zs

I could also think of the UH-1Y Venom as a potential candidate. (AH-1Z and UH-1Y share 85 percent parts commonality)

The price is not just for the choppers. It is like paying 70% of the entire life cycle costs upfront, that is why it is high.

Who told you NAF technicians were left out of the maintenance of our platforms?

Why does the US act not like partners in this matter?

The U.S don't act as partners we all know that. They treat us like they are doing us a favor. Like we are literally begging em and can't do without them. You know that.

Botswana already offered land to base the logistics hub and SADC needs to get a move on.

The SAMIM deployment is sure to make this come quick.

It transpires that we are both left behind by events. Came across this article whilst preparing my response to your broader SADC question:

SADC log depot for Botswana
Written by defenceWeb -22nd Oct 2021

The recent and still underway deployment of SADC forces from five member states to Mozambique as the SAMIN (SADC Mission in Mozambique) demonstrated the need for a depot “to mitigate mobilisation challenges best addressed by a fully functional logistics depot to support quick reaction.

I shall provide the wider SADC perspective I owe to you, kikuyu1,and I think, willybaby? Sometime in the next 3 days.

Not just defence aid. Egypt's economy, stripped of foreign aid, is such rubbish that as we saw earlier, increases in the price of bread were enough to bring down the Mubarak dynasty.

The military practically runs the economy. Is there any business without ties to the military? It's not healthy at all, such a situation stifles innovation as you need ties to succeed. Need a bakery? Call the army.
