Go to countries your currency is at par with or greater than. It's simple economics!

Why you shouldn't risk starting a new life in Europe or America.

Granted these two continents-- Western part of them, has done a lot in term of Development. They're virtually top in all indices of human Development, yet they harbor a secret no one tells you! Life is cruel there. You're going to live your entire life working to sustain the goohooo of a life there. Just ask the 79% of those in western hemisphere, who learnt this the hardest Way!
It's the most unfriendly and most wasteful place for a young, energetic, AAfrican, skilled or not, to go in the virtual world we now live.

It grieves my business side seeing hitherto prosperous young talented Africans trooping down to go start a menial job in Europe USA or Canada, with the attendant high cost of migration, harassment, profile and all sorts of stuff these guys subject you to.

Let's take for instance, going to Canada will cost you about 6700 dollars in direct spendings and a further 2000 in available cash at hand. Yet you are not assured of a good, readily available job there. Except a one percent, who are usually hyped!

This is good money you can use and set up a fairly large Company by African Standard in Rwanda, Or any other African country with a sane leader, and with the necessary papers that comes with it, you can visit these same countries like you would your village. Plus respect added.

No one tells you this because Africa is plagued by poor leadership, illiteracy and near absence of good counsel by the leaders. It's behold on the Young to actually craft a frontier for themselves..

Granted, Nigerians, Ghanaians, and other western African countries are leading in technical, entrepreneurship and commercial activities. It beholds on these folks to turn black Africa around. Africa for Africans, and a Fair equitable transaction on the international space. That's how Asia came to what it is today. No more spoon feeding, aids or charity. No more folks sitting down in far away European, Asian or American boulevard deciding what is good for us! Are you a blacksmith, come over and Design farming implement that fits our environment. Are you a financial guru, come and forge a business relationship with an IT guru to provide us an African PayPal. What ever you are good at come, Bigkoko® African Integrated Services LTD will guide you professionally!

Granted, Most African countries lack leaders with same vision and foresight of the tall guy in Rwanda. Look my friend, do you know MTN is actually a bank & a Telecom giant here? Do you know rain/thunderstorm or not, electric power is constant? Do you know the electric bills in my house is actually half a dollar (500rwf) for two weeks, and constant? Utility companies bill me exactly what I use. Do you know immediately I recharge electricity instantly gets connected, no network failure?. Don't tell it's because of low population, that's a lame excuse. Don't you know all gigantic projects are first produced on small scales? Like Fractional Distillation in the lab-Refinery as big as a small city!
Do you know the I.T Integration here is amongst the best in Africa? Do you know they actually write, read and write documents, contracts in their local language just like Europeans, Asians do?

Granted, Rwandans lack basic technical skills, skills you'd get by the flick of a finger in Lagos, Aba, Onitshe, Port Harcourt, Kumasi, Cotonou, Accra etc. The horror of yesterday's now a motivation to make something out of their country! Gradually, EAC- East Africa Community, RWANDA, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, DRC Congo, Burundi is moving towards the likelihood of Schengen in Africa. This is why cross border businesses should spring up now! Break down the trade barriers, and get you an African Schengen!

Nough can not be said about the prospects of striking gold here. The price for commodities is high...good for business! Rent is comparable to a small east European city, manageable. Food is abundantly cheap... I mean healthy farm products. Export bureaucracy is lax..a huge thumbs up to the government. Bureaucratic bottle necks among government parastatals; near zero! Import tax on the other hand is high...this I found understandable because they don't have the luxury of natural resources like other African countries. These are verified facts. Weather is wholesome... like you are in western hemisphere. Why do you think Europeans love this country! It's like mini Brussel!

Don't be like our brothers in south part of Africa who sat still, did nothing, delight in sex until the whites took total & complete control of their economy. Now they're busy rioting and breaking into businesses owned by those who did something. The fact they don't know: if you send the whites parking now, you end up like Zimbabwe! Hahahaha

At the moment, the Indians, Pakistani, Lebanese, Chinese, Europeans are actually arriving to Strategically place themselves in all sector of the economy Including those I'm sure we Africans can do well at!

Very enlightening.

African leaders, businessmen et al, need to read this. Africans can turn their countries around by building those places that are already set for development.
However, can we be sure there won't be xenophobia or the fear of domination?

Thanks, don't you think our problem for looking down on Africa and not looking back is because of poor institutions. How are we sure that the next president will share the values and visions of Paul Kegame?

Very insightful! This thread needs to get to the front page so that our people can read and learn. There is money to be made on the African continent. It's just that, many of our people don't know how to go about it legitimately and many equally lack start up capital. I believe that if African youths are taught entrepreneurial skills and how to go about starting a business somewhere in Africa, they will go for it. But right now, African youths think that the only way to make it in life is to migrate to the western world. Meanwhile, you have Black citizens from western countries like USA who wished they lived somewhere else so that they can finally get a break from racism. Such is the irony of life.

Good question. I think our people's mindset needs to change. If Africans finally come to the realization that investing in Africa will benefit us all in the long run, they will begin to do better. I admit that most African leaders have no foresight and vision. They don't even believe in the capabilities of their own people. This is why Nigerian leaders rob Nigerians blind and hide the money in bank accounts in the western world and open businesses in places like British Virgin Islands or Seychelles. Since Nigerians continue to support such leaders, they will continue to wallow in poverty and hopelessness. Again, a change of mindset is needed.

Not only Africans ... people always move to greener pastures. The problem with most of us is we move with hope .... we don't look before we leap.... we just leap and hope the landing will be a soft one. Another African country is never taken into consideration.... destination must be White country ... any White country is better than any country in Africa. We just need to get there ... then we are faced with the reality of living in such countries .... illegally... trapped.

You have bitter tribalism between Hausas vs Igbos, Hutu's vs Tutsis,Tigreans vs Amharas ,Arabs vs black Mauritanians etc.

Africa is not the calm eldorado that's being portrayed here businesswise or socio-politically .The Chinese still control your infrastructure sector ,foreign airlines control 70% of Africa's air travel mkt ,foreign carriers control your cellphone mkt and Nigeria's oil sector is dominated by western oil majors.

Let's come again and be brutally honest with ourselves vis-a vis what Singapore ,China,Malaysia and UAE have achieved in the 60yrs Africans have been independent.

Rwanda that is poorer and more useless than Nigeria is where you are advicing people to go to. Doing well yet per capita income is still less than 800 USD. Nigeria as poverty capital of the world with an even larger population has a higher per capita than they do. Honestly I have been to like 10 African countries and aside South Africa, you are better off in Nigeria. Moving from Nigeria to any of these shithole countries is a serious downgrade that you will regret to eternity. You can't make money In Nigeria with its population and it's resources and it's Rwanda you think you will make it lol.

You are taking of IT and calling Rwanda. Nigeria has the best programmers in Nigeria. Most of the venture funding coming to Africa is coming to Nigeria and the few tech unicorns present in Africa are Nigerian. If you are looking to migrate within Africa and it's not South Africa, don't bother.

They have come again!

Rwanda that has only its infrastructure in Kigali while the rest of the country are sh!tholes-like is what we're told is the best place to live, run businesses and raise families. Akin to El-Rufai saying "come and invest in Kaduna for it's well developed and safe" whereas ethnic minorities are slaughtered and wanton insecurity cut across the state. Criticise him while being a resident and get arrested, so much for development. Low budget Lee Kuan Yews masquerading themselves everywhere.

Most if not all African leaders have passports of developed countries but young and ambitious Africans are preached to not attain same privilege (all Saraki's kids have British citizenship ditto for Buhari's. Amaechi's son is in Canada as Desmond Elliot's children are in the US. What about incoming Soludo? All are in the UK and many more) by relocating to places where a change of government could lead to an upheaval in policies.

You have governments across Ghana, Namibia and Botswana restricting foreign investors from investing in their economies YET you want Africans with capital to invest their hard earned money, lives and time into such places. Maybe for tech businesses but for businesses in the real sector aka manufacturing and industrial sectors, Africans are too poor to sell to and most importantly, the continent is too disorganised and policies are very inconsistent to rely on. People need consistency, a sense of safety and second option. These are the reasons folks are relocating so that they can clinch those strong passports and return afterwards (some of those who relocated to Canada will return at a later date) to the most unstable place in the world. Before you mention the Chinese, Indians and Lebanese like one Dasparrow does (a woman who left Europe to Nigeria, found it very brutish and difficult only to flee to one bloody no-name country in Central America yet practices online witchcraft by actively dissuading young Nairalanders from doing the same), do know that they have strong networks built over hundreds of years by their ancestors who fled those countries (India and Lebanon), have a strong backing from their home government (China) and a rich diaspora (the trio). Their ancestors left their home countries to economically buoyant places to build businesses and raise families, the same networks newer migrants are tapping into. Instead of supporting such similar moves by young and ambitious Africans to economically buoyant places, you want them to move to poverty infested and unstable places like Rwanda and some years ago Ethiopia was trumped as one of such places.

Here's something you should know: regardless of race, humans will always migrate to where their lives can be bettered and as humans earn more, they desire for more good things in life. An example is how droves of foreign nurses in Singapore resigned and relocated to Canada, Australia and the US partly because of the pandemic stress but mainly because there is no hope of them attaining permanent residence status and/or eventual citizenship. However, these women (the vast majority of nurses are women) didn't plan so ab initio but as their fortunes improved while working in Singapore, they wanted more (human needs are insatiable, Econs 101) and left to places where citizenship is attainable. According to you, they should have remained in Bangladesh, Philippines, Cambodia, Bolivia etc.

Maybe you should ask for a refund of your secondary school fees from whatever school you finished from as I'm pretty sure you didn't learn anything useful because if you understood elementary economics, you will understand why people migrate.

I think your post would speak more to Africans who are already financially stable/independent and just want to settle in and/or invest in other African countries. At the moment, the majority of African youths are seeking greener pastures usually in the form of jobs and permanent residence/citizenship of a strong/popular economy that would give them the freedom in future to travel the world and eventually settle in places like Rwanda.
Note that today even across African countries, European passports are even more respected than African passports.

Succeed! by Bigkoko: 9:48am
To succeed in life, there's a secret. If not every one would be successful. Oftentimes, God, Allah, Krishna, buhda, Jesus, Gandi, Shiva, Nature, NOTHING, what ever you believe in often draw your attention to some aids to help you succeed. These are:
Time
Opportunities
Capital.
Amongst the three above, the most critical & expensive is Time. Once it's gone, it's gone for good! Followed by opportunities and lastly capital.
But I'm in shock entrepreneurs thinks capital first before time or opportunity!
You may have capital but the time & opportunity is gone. Your money becomes dormant.
Another dimension is when you happen to be among the first business to sell a needed commodities in any place, guess what? Your profits would break down the bank. Before others rush in, they'd has to contend with a smaller % of Market share.
The opportunity is right before you. Rwanda has virtually less than 3% manufacturing capacity, this makes her over relying on imports. Guess what? Apart of plastic & fire arms, there's negligent Import ban here. Any serious entrepreneurs know what opportunities lies here. And the population has an insane appetite for foreign goods.
Cosmetics... France
Food... EU
FMCG.... Dubai China etc.

Even if it's napkins you Import, there's going to be a market. Guess what the Indians, Pakistani, Lebanese, Chinese, Europeans are struggling to fill all niche market. They come as tourist, observe how expensive items, they hurry back plot their Strategy..boom! They have started sending biscuits, creams from Europe. The secret, they just empower one Rwandan and give her a sense of belonging. They will be enjoying themselves traveling, while their Rwandan staff is selling their wares!

We, at Bigkoko are glad some Nigerians are rapidly taking up the challenge, being the most entrepreneurial Africans.

It's very easy for you to sit in your country and we help you set up your company, open a Company account for it. Get you a Co-working space, get you one staff to clear what you send for sale, after sales get your profits. We keep an eye on your interest here.

Opportunities doesn't always come within our expectations, but it's still good! Imagine you are Opportunity trying hard to meet up with the expectations of everyone? You'd know it's likely going to be impossible. So what do you do? Create a level playing ground for everyone!

You’ve probably heard of this inspiring short story on opportunity, but it’s worth retelling to those who always let a defining moment slip through their fingers.

Opportunities seldom come knocking twice. Once that defining moment comes, you have to seize it and never let it go!
Lost opportunities are only a gateway to regret! Don’t be like this guy who let a good opportunity come to pass:

Story of a young man who wished to marry the farmer's beautiful daughter - short story on opportunity in

This is a story of a young man who wished to marry the farmer’s beautiful daughter. He went to the farmer to ask his permission. The farmer looked him over and responded, “Son, go stand out in that field and I’m going to release three bulls, one at a time. If you can catch the tail of any one of the three bulls, you can marry my daughter.”

The young man stood in the pasture awaiting the first bull. The barn door opened and out ran the biggest, meanest-looking bull he had ever seen. He decided that one of the next bulls had to be a better choice than this one, so he ran over to the side and let the bull pass through the pasture out the back gate.

The barn door opened again. Unbelievable. He had never seen anything so big and fierce in his life. It stood – pawing the ground, grunting, slinging slobber – as it eyed him. Whatever the next bull was like, it had to be a better choice than this one. He ran to the fence and let the bull pass through the pasture, out the back gate.

The door opened a third time. A smile came across his face. This was the weakest, scrawniest little bull he had ever seen. This one was his bull. As the bull came running by, he positioned himself just right and jumped at just the exact moment. He grabbed… but the bull had NO tail!

Lesson 1: Life is Full of Surprises
Sometimes life throws you a curve ball at the most inopportune moment. But no matter how hard things get, do not give up, keep going! Let’s face it; life is full of surprises. And these surprises aren’t always good so be prepared.

An unyielding person could easily break down whenever things don’t go his way. Missed opportunities are just one of the few of life’s cruel jokes.

But the beauty of living is the lessons we learn from every mistake. Don’t let a single misstep define who you are. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move forward. Wherever life leads you, always keep an eye out for little opportunities, challenges that will help you achieve your goals.

Re: Why You Shouldn't Risk Going To Western World For Greener Pastures! by Bigkoko: 6:59am On Dec 11, 2021
Embassies make more money at their designated Embassies or Visa Application Centres. It is a known fact that most Embassies especially the Western countries are making a huge profit from non-refundable visa application fees. They provide scanty services but charge huge unquestionable non-refundable fees. That’s the reason why most of them refused to change to the modern system of visas which is evisa. Furthermore, the rate of visa denial or rejection is so high compared to the number of applications received, that you wondered if the embassies concerned have not turned their missions into money-making ventures.

Countries such as Canada and the United States are known for making huge money from Nigeria visa applicants, no matter how you satisfy their draconian visa requirements or pay heavy school fees, your chance of getting these two countries visas are very slim. They make noises about their needs for immigrants to boost their workforce and cleverly advertise to lure visa applicants to apply for visas. Whereas, they know quite well that the chances of getting the visa are slim. What an absurdity.
