Please who has received message from NVC this November. Our case was received since October 21st and my fiancee has called NVC just last week. She was told that US embassy in Nigeria gave instruction to NVC to stop sending cases to the embassy. The reason for the temporary suspension is still unknown.

Please is there a phone number to reach US embassy in Lagos for enquiries on this issue. If it is COVID related, we need to know.

Get a death certificate from the Nigerian Population Commission. The same place you obtain birth certificates from.

The death certificate will likely be sufficient as proof that you are free to marry your fiance at the filing stage, but be prepared to show more evidence at the interview stage.

At the interview, in addition to the death certificate, you should have other secondary evidence like social media posts (from you, friends, etc) showing her death when she passed, copy of the obituary, burial ceremony program, condolence letters, pictures of grave with gravestone showing name, dates, etc. Anything that will confirm death aside the death certificate.

the petitioner can call NVC to confirm or send a mail to the U.S embassy in Nigeria concerning your case file and its important to have your case file number at hand

Yes you can. You can even be there by 6am. The appointment is done on first come basis not the time on your confirmation page
