If you are fully set and have all your stuff sorted , you can plan travelling in December. You would need time to settle in so you are not distracted with so many things you need to sort when classes starts.

It is also getting really cold and the snows are falling heavily. Dont forget your thick jackets, thick sweater, glooves and boots. You can get a jacket with hoodie to cover your head or hat. Aboniki and rub too for your chest. I felt i should chip that in.

Safe trip in advance.

Its much safer for you to use an app like Lemonade finance, etc to do this kinda transaction. People are (rightfully) wary about conducting cash transfers with people online.

STRICK00:

Hello guys please who can help with this?

It’s a bit urgent please

Good day Fam ,
1-Please I have a 2 year old child who would accompany me to Canada but he's a US citizen. I would like to know if the child is meant to undergo a medical examination with me or is he exempt since he's a US citizen but living in Nigeria.

2-After getting visa approval can someone arrive Canada 2 days before medicals expires?
Eg medicals to expire 1 January ,2023 is it ok to arrive 29 or 30th December? Or must the perosn do another medicals?
Please I need your quick response. Thank you

Thank you.

Greta points! For the jackets, I'd recommend that you buy a proper winter coat when you arrive Canada. The ones most people buy from Naija will keep you warm once you step out of the Canadian airport. But you can buy one for now that you can use in the airplane

For me, I try to take my recommended dose of vitamin D daily. It helps to supplement for the sunshine that we don't get during winter. It helps with the depression a bit.

This is my first winter - and it is truly depressing sad. 4:30 p.m and it is already dark! Na wah.

If you do it, it's almost certain you won't be able to return before a ban is placed

It same process for all pr applicant ,everybody is required to pass medical even usa citizen ..only difference is usa citizen do not need a visa to travel to canada for 6 month but they will still pass same process for pr application so after 6 month it either the usa citizen apply for an extention or become illegal .my cousin also a usa citizen in nigeria and went to canada with family ,the only difference is at passport request ..the family send all the family passport with her usa passport but everybody passport was stamped with a visa but her own was return empty but copr attached with a photo as other member of the family,so she pass same process like every member of the family including medical expect visa and to your second question ,yes you can arrive befiore your visa expire becos am sure the embassy will not give you visa beyond your medical expiration date

For those who are scared of the cold there is nothing to be worried about. The body adapts. Went for a walk in minus 1 degree. Couldn’t feel any cold but last year i was shivering in 5 degrees self

Thank you to everyone who has been contributing to this thread, it's been very helpful.
I have a question and will appreciate if the seniors can give insights.
I recently got a job offer in St John's NL for CAD85k, the company will process lmia and all. Will this salary be sustainable for I, my spouse and an infant in that province?

Your take home after tax will be about 60+k meaning about 5k a month. This is enough to manage ur life well. This is my opinion, I have never lived in NL. my family of 3 lived on about 2500 per month in edmonton when we arrived .

the only way to relocate at this age is student visa, for bsc you will be needing average of 8m to 10m yearly. My advice to you go to university in Nigeria, build your career first and relocate later.
