Thank you Valto.

I can see it is a Daly BMS.
Would you have the 30-200A version of this BMS, and how much is it.

Balancer?

What I know most already-made BMS (active or passive designs) has a balancing current between 50mA-1A. That is why you must choose your battery that has similar capacities and voltage level. The BMS takes longer time to balance your battery depending on the balancing current. But a passive BMS can be designed to balance at 5A.

Seriously seeking your help. I need a cable tray / cover the type you find on the floors of computer server rooms. I need to cover battery and armored cables without destroying the floor. Any ideas? Thank you

Good day guys, I need your assistance in figuring this out. I have currently two bank system on different solar arrays. One is gel the other is tubular. The gel bank is going rogue so I have decided to upgrade this to anther tubular bank.
The question is I want to charge the two banks with one single array. I know I can't parallel the 2banks because of age, does a battery switch help in this aspect to charge the 2 banks. Or any automated system for this thanks in advance.

Good afternoon everyone,

Please anyone with a faulty axpert VMIII, a friend wants to buy and try out the display to work with his lithium battery.

Kindly reach out please
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olopan(m): 1:13pm On Nov 28, 2021
Yes a battery switch helps

Assuming that the array you want to use is big enough to charge both batteries

Getting a knife edge change over with the batteries being the two input and the output being the charge controller

Just don't change it over so quickly

Thanks for this the knife change over, will it charge both banks evenly.

You want it to charge both banks at same time? The knife switch won't do that
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olopan(m): 2:05pm On Nov 28, 2021
Evenly maybe!
since you will change it over only one bank is full

I would prefer you charge each bank with the separate solar array this way you only apply the change over on the inverter side alone

House gurus good to see the flag is still firing. It has been a minute since I last posted here but I do check from time to time.

I do have a question. So moving to a new place in Abuja and the choice where to install panels on the roof poses a dilemma for me.

The house roof is at about 17 degrees inclination on both side.

The problem is one side aligns south east while the other aligns north West. The little I know about solar panel direction is. As much as possible align to the South. If not then south west or west. I always feel directly facing east or north should be avoided. (Unless your panel is flat in which case it don't matter )

In my case the west which would have been ideal faces north and the eastern side of the roof faces south.

What do gurus in the house advise.

There's an app for that. grin grin cool cool

So i recommend these 3 android apps that you can use to help you with the orientation of the panels.

1. SolarCT - Solar PV Systems Calculator by M.N.N
2. SunCalc org by Torsten Hoffman
3. Compass by muruar

These apps using GPS to get your current location can help you with Azimuth, Solar Orientation etc of your solar panels to get the most bang for buck.

e go hard, so after charging again, you will manually use another switch to hook up back to load?...doing this everyday manually??
would advice you continue running it as you have before... or if you can, sell off the old tubulars and start afresh from a level ground

Hi House,

Good evening to you all. i am a bit of a novice but very much interested in solar energy.

Please i need recommendation on good low maintenance battery brand that one can buy for aged parents. i am looking at buying Quanta, that is what i use personally and it has served me for more than two years and still counting, though DoD isnt more than 50% most of the time except in extreme conditions. the electrolyte ones we got them did not last more than one year,

Apart from quality, i am also looking for something that can last for at least five years. Heard those that use distilled water lasts longer, is this true?. if this is the case, how often does the water need to be topped up?

in order to upgrade the system, is it possible to add panels say two 350 watt panel to an existing 250 watts panel array without it affecting the setup (All 24 volts)?

Also i may need to buy a CC for the setup because the inverter has an inbuilt CC which by adding more panels, will exceed its capacity. Kindly recommend a good and not too expensive CC to use for this.

Thank you in advance for your response and also recommendation on who can supply these without hitches. God bless you all.

Your 250w will drag 350w to behave like 250w panel. If you must use 350w, put it on another CC.
No good CC comes cheap, kindly note this.

On your proposed installation for your parents, if you want to use tubular, which I personally won't use. Are you very close to them? Those wet cells need baby sitting o!
