I think honorable angelicbeing was only mentioning about giving kola to elders in gest sir.
Baba na father, what could any vendor possibly give you elders but gratitude and prayer.

It was in total gest.

I pity anyone that took it seriously.

Hello Family,
BLOCK PRICE DISPARITY between the south and North.

I can’t remember but vividly but I think before I left South west for the north, I bought blocks for 170naira to 200naira.

I am in the north now and for real, a 6 inches block is 85naira while the 9 inches is 100naira! This one no be “dem say”, i actually asked and funniest thing, cement is 3800naira per bag here.

Now I am wondering, why is block more expensive in the south even when cement is cheaper compared to the north and funniest thing, the 85naira blocks here are stronger

I confirmed in Kano today, and indigene (fuel attendant) took me to his sites and I questioned him on the prices of the materials used and I was shocked when he told me 6 inches block is 85naira

#100 x 40 pieces of block is #4000.
So how is it done to be stronger?
Even if labour is #500 per bag. How about sand and water?
The maths and quality does not add up.

Their is no need to sweat to much about it, the question is supply and demand. How many houses are they building there per year compared to southwest and southeast?

Exactly, if you add it up, it doesn’t make sense at all but that’s the reality, block is really 85naira and it’s strong

For a fuel attendant to be building his own house then you should know most of them do build here also, they all believe in having their own personal home due to the fact that they marry a lot, the standard is 4 wives and at least 15 children so most men tend to start building once they clock 20.

So yes, the demand for block is high not to na talk of the main city like nassarawa, Hotoro, GRA, Zaria road and co where the wealthy hausas are.

How block take be 85naira even when cement is 3800.

To be sure , I will walk up to another block industry today

This what you get when we do your flat roof, you can see we merge the gutter at the middle of the roof.

Is there something wrong with this roofing?

This is what we plan to do for our house when we get to that stage?

Will soon begin concrete works.

Currently torn between 1:2:4 and 1:3:3

That is 1 part cement to 2 parts sand to 3 parts stone OR 1 part cement to 3 parts sand to 3 parts stone

I believe you!

Things are cheap in the far north...a typical Arewa man would always consider 'his people before profit'.
Example, transport fare from Kastina(Horma bus) to Lagos currently is N6,000 where as from Abuja (Horma bus) to Onitsha is N10,500.

'Southerners' are 'wicked' to themselves!

Your head must be paining you, if not you won't be making the post in bold.

How many checkpoints will you have to settle police and army between abuja and onitsha, with the long queues and unnecessary delays

How many thousand potholes will your vehicle dance through from Lagos to abuja, with the risk of replacing your ball joints, tie rods, shock absorbers and entire suspension on the road

The transport fare disparity is a planned event where the north, through official and non official means are illegally fighting the south for economic parity.

The south is being targeted with economic blockade and infrastructural neglect by the federal government and the same neglected south is blaming themselves. Onitsha ports Has been rendered redundant as they cannot allow it's use. Anambra new airport is being stopped, Enugu airport, Ibadan rails, Onne ports, Seme border, Lagos wharf are all being slowed down by the north for obvious reasons.

Sometimes you need to think before making some statements.

You are very stupid for saying 'my head is paining me'.Can't you make your point without an insult?
Check your records(if at all you have one),majority of the Federal contracts in the 'South' are awarded to Southern Contractors so what stops them from doing the needful.
Idiot!!!

this is the best type of roof for Africans buildings, we have low rate of snow fall, the Americans, Europeans, Asians that are using pitched roofs does that mainly because of their weather condition, because of snow, they don't want the snow blocks to remain on the roof so it will damage the roof, this mainly why u see all this high rise roofs on their lands, but we Nigerians are copy copy people, we can copy anything, even some copy madness, but i must confess to you that flat roofs are the best for us here in Nigeria, even the aesthetics look of the designs are awesome, we don't have snow here so why all this high roofs and waste of materials, money that should be channel to other part of the project will be spend on roof. go to lekki, ajah, eleko 60% of those houses there now are flat roofs and still growing, we are getting wise day by day.
