Manchester United: Carrick To Step Down As First Team Coach by Stanweezy(m): 12:49am On Dec 03, 2021
Michael Carrick has decided to step down as First Team Coach and leave the club following the conclusion of his spell as caretaker Manager.

John Murtough, Football Director, said: “Michael leaves with the sincerest thanks and best wishes of everyone at Manchester United after 15 years of exceptional service to the club as a player and as a coach. While we are sad to see him go, we respect and understand Michael’s decision.

“He will always be known as one of the finest midfielders in the history of Manchester United, and, more recently, as an excellent coach who has worked tirelessly under two managers to help develop the strong squad which Ralf will now take charge of.

“We are grateful for the steady leadership Michael has shown through this period of managerial transition, and, while he is now stepping away from day-to-day involvement, he will always be welcome back as a legend of the club.”

Michael Carrick said: “My time at this great club will always rank as the best years of my career. When I first signed over 15 years ago, I never in my wildest dreams could have imagined winning so many trophies and I will certainly never forget the fantastic memories both as a player and as a member of the coaching team.

“However, after a lot of thought and deliberation, I have decided that now is the right time for me to leave the club. I want to place on record my thanks to all of the players and a special mention goes to the backroom staff, working long hours with such a great group of people has been a real pleasure and I have made some long-lasting friendships.
“I am, and will always be, a Manchester United fan and will come to as many matches as possible. I would like to wish Ralf, the staff, the players and the fans all the best for the future and I look forward to being in the stands and supporting the boys as a fan.”

Michael played 464 games for Manchester United between 2006 and 2018, winning five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

He joined the First Team coaching staff when he retired in 2018 and served under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The new coach is already in town now, so whether he formally steps down or not, they have already taken the job from him and the management is not even discreet about it, so why is he saying after a lot of thought and deliberation? Like he has a choice?

Thank you for your service, Carrick.

Every true red recognizes the impact you have had both as a player, and your calm working the coaches as our first team coach. May the years be kind to you.

Lastly, I hope Harry Maguire gets shown the way out. He's arguably the calamitous decision Ole made in his time at the club

marlboro007:
and is the same maguire that spearheaded the equaliser oo,I know u will quote me wrong but watch the highlights, I don't know how u pple don't have patience are u expecting miracle with our current squad. Thank u stars Ronaldo Brought motivation and winning mentality bk to the team

The fact that a dead watch is correct twice a day does not make it good enough.
Maguire is just another Phil Jones - a poor player by every standard for the caliber of club like ManUtd.

He could probably have stayed behind as a backroom staff if he intends to stay

It is best to leave a job when your head is high.

For the last 3 games he was in charge.. he never lost.. won 2 games and drew 1 game all against a well ranked teams. That's quite a record.

But he didn't have a choice tho, he had to leave or be kicked out.. he chose a dignified exit.. Good for him.

Manchester board could have given Carrick a chance for sure but they don't want to repeat the mistake of Ole. We wish Carrick all the best in future endeavors

Some of our ex-players blast us when we are not doing well, they say harsh words at us,they belittle us cause we are in a wounded state, still they refuse to lead us and teach to play better......but then you have CARRICK,who has served the club with respect and diligence, and even after his playing career,he stood by us and impacted his wisdom on the young lads coming up......what else can we the manchester united faithfuls ask again, you have given your time to the club, your energy, your wisdom and your respect........Now we honor your decision and wish you well in your future life....

THANK YOULEGEND

throughout his 3games he never sat and watch Netflix like OGS. he was there with boys all through. rotate the team well. made good sub and selection. gave everyone chance and choice and to cap it all tactics that matched each game.

Thank you Legend
