Former Italy forward Antonio Cassano has sensationally claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo sent him raging text messages following his comments ranking him compared to Lionel Messi, who scooped up his seventh Ballon d'Or.

Messi received the ultimate individual crown for a record seventh time to pip Robert Lewandowski to the award, with Ronaldo nowhere to be seen as he snubbed attending the ceremony all together.

Ronaldo is now two awards behind Messi as the Portuguese star remains content with his five honours, but the recent success for the Argentinian has swayed the famous 'greatest of all-time' debate once more.

Cassano has made his feelings very clear in the past where Messi and Ronaldo rank in that conversation, and his recent comments led to a message from the Manchester United forward.

According to football Italia, Cassano previously said that ‘there is only one Ronaldo’ as he referred to the former Brazilian striker, and that Messi is much better than the former Juventus star.

After Messi claimed his seventh crown, with Ronaldo snubbing the ceremony, Cassano turned the screw even more and said that the 36-year-old is 'not even in the top five in the history of football'.

The comments were clearly too much as the Italian revealed on Bobo TV that Ronaldo had texted him, and the Portuguese star was less than impressed as he claimed that Cassano lacked 'respect'.

Speaking on Bobo TV, where Cassano is a regular guest, the Italian said: "The other day, after Bobo TV, I saw a text from a Spanish number.

"Four long texts. Let’s see if he [Ronaldo] confirms it because I also forwarded them to Gigi [Buffon], who told me he had given my number to Cristiano.

"He told me that I had to respect him, I had to respect the goals he had scored, what he had won and what he represents.

"I fear nobody and I replied to him writing that I had just said the truth: there is only one Ronaldo and Messi is better than him. He [Ronaldo] continued saying that he has money. He scored more many goals in his career, while I had only scored 150.

Cristiano has everything in life. He should take it easy and be relaxed rather than see what people say about him. He should be like Messi and be more relaxed.

"This is the truth, I called Buffon and told him too, I told Giorgio Chiellini as well. I’ve never disrespected him, as a man or as a footballer. I don’t like him, there are 50 players I like more than he, so what?"

At the age of 36, it's almost impossible for Ronaldo to catch Messi's record of seven Ballon d'Or's, but despite Cassano's damning claims, the Portuguese star is still in excellent form, so even at his age he cannot be underestimated.

Backmen, like taribo West, desallu, thuram, maldini,Blanc, jaap Stam,cafu, dunga, radebe Lucas, Nesta, Sol Campbell, Fernando couto, hierro, Ivan campo. The average defenders then are just like van dijk of today imagine playing against four van dijks in defence. C.ronaldo can't face these guys listed above.
