You guys should allow these people rest.

None of u guys arguing all these nonsense are even from opobo.

Let them decide who they want to be and so be it.

Stop dragging a whole town unnecessarily.

What rubbish. People will just be constituting nuisance.

You from Ebonyi state what is your business with what opobo people decides to be addressed as?

Mad people everywhere.

I am from.Opobo n currently in Opobo my beloved town.
Believe me, we are Ijaws nothing make us ibos.
Call us ibos na vex get us ooo.
I don't hate them but their miscreants here are on drugs.
So I will be avoiding them.
Jaja was an Ibo man who was brought into the Ijaw culture before being made to lead a house.

Ask them here, how come we Jaja went to found Opobo, he didn't name those other communities in Ibo name rather those towns around Opobo all near Ijaw names.
They are only trying to twist history which they have succeeded here in Nland bit on ground, we dey kampe nothing do us.
Jaja himself have children how come his children didn't bear Ibo names.
Question they are yet to answer.
How come we don't address our king as Eze but Amanyanabo?
They won't tell you, they will dodge.
Ask them if they know road to Opobo.
You claim you own Opobo yet you passed all the beautiful land in Ogoni, eleme to own a swamp, island.

Eastlink made these suggestions and I agree 100%. And if I had the resources I would have sponsored them.
He says.....

"

Bringing facts here on Nairaland is a right step in the right direction, but more needs to be done. Such as.
1. Inviting Bonny/Opobo people to Igbo the cultural gathering as was the case with the forgotten Ahajioku festival held in Owerri. King Jaja Jeki V used to be a guest.

2. Informing Ohaneze or any Igbo group to open up Igbo associations in Bonny. Getting King Pepple of Bonny and King Jaja of Opobo to endorse these pro-Igbo Ubani unions.

3. Sending an Igbo delegation to visit with Bonny/Opobo.

4. Sponsorship of Igbo language competitions in Bonny/Opobo.

5. Opening of Facebook groups where Igbophilic Bonny/Opobo indigenes are admin. This will help to counter the guerrilla warfare being financed and sponsored by INC/IYC.

6. Supporting Pro-Igbo Bonny/Opobo sons like Dakuku Peterside for Governorship.

7. Sponsoring historians to write the true Bonny Igbo origin history of her Kings and people that will give Alagoa’s fraudulent revision the death knell.

"

Culled from Eastlink

That wud be a wasted effort.
It will yield nothing las las.

Go ahead n see if I am ready to say I am Ibo. Continue.

Igbos should just forget about them if opobo and bonny indigens themselves don't want to belong to the larger igbo nation. Igbos should only fight for them if they vehemently refused to join the ijaws kwara state naturally belonged to the yorubas but has been conquered by the fulanis no need for unnecessary blood letting because of two little towns.

I am from Opobo, we are not ibos.
We are true n true Ijaws.
They know it but are hiding under the cover of say some persons there speak Ibo.
Ever since Buhari said they are a dot in a circle, they have been trying very hard to prove that they are not.
Since Buhari speech, do you know how many threads they have opened for Opobo n Bonny alone.
Its a world record.
Let them try harder, we the Ijaws don't brag over anything, and that is our greatest strength we act wen the time comes.

Let them come n chase us away.

I don't even think been a dot or been landlocked is a disadvantage in this 21st century all what the igbos need is just good leaders and quality human resources to develop themselves and their nation. We have seen many landlocked countries that are doing far better than nigeria in all aspect of human development despite all the access to seas and natural resources at it's disposal. Using dot in a circle to mock and taunt the igbos makes no sense to me.

You are the one wriggling yourself in pain because I don't see reason for that trash of reply.

Did I ask for it or do I look like someone who cares to know wherever anyone comes from?

You should learn to control your pain and emotion and not dropping such at the feet of a post totally different from the writer submission.

What madness.

This is why the civil war didn't succeed, because the igbos just wanted to replace the North with themselves, becoming the dominant group in the former South East and claiming every other state as theirs.

There's no day on nairaland that you don't see a thread regarding the igbos claiming lands that don't belong to them.

Look closely at the issues with this group and its the same concern, every other group in Nigeria has with them. Its crazy.

We know our enemies, we don't make noise when dealing with them.

The op says opobo is ibo land, how so?

Jaja was brought there and incorporated into one of the families and because he was diligent, he rose to be who he was, did he meet Opobo as virgin territory?
That aside, from Rivers to Bayelsa to Kogi, Benue and Cross River states, online ibos are making claims.

Like I said, this tendency to want to dominate everybody is what had been their major issue.
Ask the yorubas and hausa-fulanis their major issue with the ibos, same thing.

This doesn't take away their industry and ability to do business, doesn't but who wants to leave the challenges of Nigeria to be faced with an igbo challenge? No one.... So the Biafran agitation is news to the rest of the country..NMK made some valid points about the government but had no plans on execution and here we are on a thread about how the igbos can take back Bonny and Opobo... Did the igbos lose Bonny or Opobo?
By the way, there's more land to be adopted by the igno crew, Opobo is separated by a small creek from Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom state. You can actually see people on the jetty in Opobo Town from ikot Abasi and some time back. When will the ibos exploration crew be claiming Ikot Abasi?

But those folks don't speak igbo ooo but am sure by proximity, they can be claimed as well...

Dude i have heard Opobo people speak and i pick igbo dialect in their tones. The truth is we the tribes that make up old eastern region are connected. The lie that other tribes like the Yoruba and the North have sold to you guys is that the igbo want to dominate which is a big lie. The ones who want to dominate everyone are the Yorubas and the Fulanis. The truth is that anyone saying that igbos want to dominate is not being sincere, because the underlining problem is fear, the fear that the competitive spirit of the igbo would displace them not that the igbo want to dominate.
