Where am working presently till this moment they are yet to pay me. I have exhausted the last payment. Amount paid is meagre but they would not pay on time. All through the weekend was just helpless as i have no dime to provide for my family. I pity my newborn baby, it is no fault you came to us, but situations in the country is making things difficult. I work in Yaba, live around Ojodu Berger i have to trek 30 minutes so as to catch up with BRT if not i would spend more. This is really affecting me mentally, sometime am drained physically.

You'll find happiness soon Sir... Just like the story of the text in your signature

kindly look at it from the employers' view too. The country biz clime is in mess, everything and legislation is skewed to frustrate biz unless the biz owner is ready to cut corners..... biz owners are going through alot, when u see them , hug them. They are silently passing through a lot

You don't understand. I have come to know why many employers of labor like to pay workers late and why they seem to be hard on their employees.

I made up my mind to stay good to my employees no matter their attitudes. But I will beg employees to always remain discipline n productive in any capacity they find themselves. It pays.

I know there are a lot of bad employers out there, my advice is don't turn the few good ones to monster. If you are in this side of divide you will understand.

Can you please tell US why they pay employees LATE?

The problem is that most Nigerian employers have the mindset that they are doing you a favor by being employed..... But that's FALSE... the moment you stop bringing value to the establishment they won't think twice to kick you out.

That's why as an employee, you should improve yourself so much that your employer will be scared to lose you to their competitors... And they'll treat you right FOR THEIR OWN GOOD
No be lie... My own oga go do like say uno work for the money... To him na big favour he do for you

Nonsense! If you don't have the means and wherewithal to pay and employ staff, then don't increase your overhead cost. Everyone is being hit hard by the economy but many companies plan accordingly so their employees don't have to suffer.

Yes it's good to treat your workers well but fact is that over 80% of the time (Nigerian workers) whether you treat them right or not will always try to run the company down by stealing and engaging in other corrupt practices.

Not even 80%, 95% are thieves

However some employees don show me pepper...

Employees should please do better... We have all been employees earlier on in life...

I feel for you bro. Well, I live somewhere around Ogba, while my office is located in Maryland. Let me know where you live, perhaps I can always pick you up to and fro, at least this will ease your financial constraint.

Let me share my experience with you as employer for six years now.

Before I opened my office, I asked myself many questions on administrative and operational aspect of my company. One of my resolutions was to pay my staff exactly month end, no matter what. By God's grace I have not failed in this yet.

However, this is what I noticed about majority of the staff that left our company. This our method allows our staff who plan to exit the company to easily switch to another company after receiving their salary month end. This is usually preplanned. Their target is usually to collect full salary from us and as well as in the new company they switched to. They do not practice 30 days notice. This is usually common in small enterprises which are the major employer of labour in Nigeria.

So, the employers put up a strategy to frustrate such abrupt moves that usually disrupt their business activities. They will delay your salary to make sure they frustrate that planned move and keep you working for almost half a month before paying you. When you finally receive the salary, the opening might have been close.

Some employers use this as their permanent template.

More so, they may be other reasons but this is the one I know about. I have witness frustration of an employee very close to me working for a company that practices this strategy. She complained to me bitterly, and as an employer I guided her through it.

Yea...u are right, thatz why some companies downsize and the few left will have to fill in for a job of two or more persons. But in all, govt needs to do more to help biz grow, though some employers are naturally wicked, they will be making money and still refuse to pay on time

If you are not mentally, financially and physically capable of setting up your own business.

What makes you think you are qualified to earn from someone who did.

Living pay cheque-to-pay cheque is complete misery.

But I guess your mind is telling you you can't make it on your own without capital.

I can only tell you to spend time reading. You'll find ways to out of your mediocre state.

Oga, nothing stops you from setting up a company and employing people.

Infact, you are fool for not doing that, considering the level of unemployment in the country.

I also know that some establishments frustrate someone when you notify them about leaving , they'll withhold your salary...
All this still boils down to INEFFECTIVE LABOUR LAWS

You definitely don't own a business that will succeed. Real businesses that succeed and stand the test of time, understand basic business principle of not increasing overhead cost when money in the bank can't cover for it.

In the meantime, you can continue to look for cheap, vulnerable and desperate Nigerians who you'll pay peanuts and still Lord over them by not paying their salaries. It's just a matter of time, your business will crumble.
