Most of this won't be necessary if people are being objective and not selfish.

Imagine telling people whose ancestors have been in a place as far back as 1700's (thoroughly documented history, not Alagoa said) that they aren't indigenous. That their mother tongue that they speak is foreign and should be discarded(first in Nigerian history). Meanwhile historians couldn't identify your own ancestors. Pray tell me, if this isn't ethnic revisionism at it purest form, then what is it?

You take offense when someone says Ijaw is a political franchise. Have you heard any other sociocultural group attach lovers of their ethnic group to their name the way INC says lovers of Ijaw Nation? It is a slimy trap to engulf and annihilate the unsuspecting.

Where else in the world do you have an ethnic having groups within it with totally divergent and unrelated languages?

How exactly is Ogbia Ijaw?
The people speak a language that is totally Ibibiod and classified as a Cross River language.
It has no relationship whatsoever with Izon. This is the truth. No lies here.

Look at Abureni, look at Obulom (Abuloma), look at Odual and Andoni.
These people all speak Ibibio language related to each other and to Ibibio. The language is classified Cross River language for crying out loud by linguists. No Izon man from Gbaramatu can understand a single sentence in those languages, but an Ibibio man who listens well can pick out one or two things.

Look at Epie, Atissa, Engenni, Udekeme (Degema) .
These people are essentially Edoid people, distant relatives to Isokos. They call Child "Omo" and speak like other Edoids.

How can anyone call them Ijaw?

Then look at Opobo and Bonny. These people speak Igbo language.

You have to do your home work. One criteria should be shared language and culture, not just topography.

I was enjoying this thread until I noticed Bigotry.
Just like the other Ijaw guys have told you, until you can change the realities on ground, all you are doing is just academic excercise.

I have friends and in-laws from Bonny and Opobo who have identified as Ijaws and I think it will be foolish to argue with people who haven't stepped foot on Opobo or Bonny to get a first hand knowledge of this people.

Until you step foot on Opobo and do the needful, you are only fooling yourselves.

So I'd suggest he creates a new one, and let us know the name here.
Then any one who wants to join will be vetted.
