You can't provide for the family, you can't pay rent, either can she buy clothes for the family, So even when you are given money to cook, its not like the money will come from your pocket, you still don't know how to cook, what can you do then apart from spreading your legs to watch Africa magic epic.

She needs to learn to cook for herself. If she's hungry for real food and she is alone, and she doesn't have cash to order take out, what happens? Knowing how to cook makes you self sufficient in that aspect.

Ladies should know how to cook but may not be able to cook every food. My wife cannot cook a certain food cos she's not used to eating it in their home town and I wouldn't blame her. So I had to switch to her comfortability of another food. And I believe if a wife doesn't know how to cook, they can talk things out. It all depends on how you guys operate in your home. Families cannot be compared with each other. What I cannot take ,you can take. For example my wife cannot fry stew to my satisfaction and I had to take the work from her. Understanding!! Except u no won marry. You cannot see a perfect woman. My opinion though.

Don't be fooled... In America or other places it's not a must! But in Nigeria & Africa, it is a MUST if you really want to enjoy ur marriage with peace of mind. However, it is not a MUST if you want to share ur husband with someone else, or become a second wife, or be at risk of been poisoned by strangers, or starve ur husband out of ur life, or suffer abusive words or insults from ur husband people, etc...

From ur post, u're a teenager. Don't Worry, op, when you grow up you'll know that it's very necessary when your hungry child runs to u. I've seen husband's affections turned from wife to a maid that does all the cooking & it ended up in pregnancy & the wife seen packed out of her home over a maid who then becomes the madam of the house. Well, it happens.

So, for ur better future, go & learn how to cook. It's not a big deal, well, at the beginning, it will appear as such but later on it will be as easy & interesting as reading a novel. Finally, it's not necessary to cook sweet food. But just try and cook!

Cooking is an informal education that comes naturally between 5 - 12 years , and further develops into maturity from 13-18 years . So what did the girl( lady) learn during those years ? Or she got house helps that her ego or pride didn’t allow her to descend and learn . Girls are closer to their mum or care giver or granny and tend to learn domestically more than boys . Any education or achievement or money a woman got , that excludes home management ( kitchen is #1, others follow ) is zero . Ladies own the home , and should be better managers both in kitchen and bedroom . Other things are extra .
So it’s compulsory . For the family , kids , extended family . A man who knows how to cook is bonus ,except he cooks professionally.

I think whoever that knows how to eat should know how to cook. There is no way you can enjoy eating outside all the time. Cooking is a skill that can easily be learn this days except the person in question is extremely lazy.

there are certain skill you must learn at a young age to be able to effiently perform better in the adulthood, you must be able to cook, to be able to run your own affairs eg at college or uni eg for man who will cook for him at college/uni ? yes he can buy prepare meals but its always cheaper to cook yourself its an example but it applies to both sexes

As far as i am concerned, i care less if my wife can cook or not. I love cooking and i will continue to cook till i am old. Her ability to cook will only be a plus.

It's necessary for everyone to know how to cook irrespective of your sex.
