Since you did not comprehend my explanation and didn't ask politely, I will indulge you by explaining to you that there's a merit in his decision and his decision is based on sound legal advice.

Whatever opinion he expressed as likely fall out of government ignoring his approach does not cancel the fact that in the face of Nigeria's law,hobnobbing with terrorists is treason.

What you misinterpreted as threat is his expression of pessimism and he wants it on record that whatever happens afterwards has absolutely nothing to do with him as he is officially on record, stating that he has nothing to do with terrorists. That can be used in court in the event any government wakes tomorrow and chooses to try him for treason. Remember, it was his pictures with the terrorists that circulated online so it's a wise and informed decision he took.
If you are in his shoes and you are wise like him, trust me, you will do same. It doesn't mean he supports the approach the government is using but he is saying that he will no longer meet with them like he has been doing before.

You seem to be so obsessed with the word terrorist that there's a suspicion you are employing it as a propaganda to paint a particular picture.
Besides, what is obvious in Nigerian law is that hobnobbing with criminals generally is a crime itself especially if the criminal is well known and your activities are seen as enabling the criminal. So if bandits are criminals since their crimes are in the public domain, it is not until the govt declares them terrorists that hobnobbing with them is illegal yet, Gumi has never shied from "hobnobbing" with them neither has the govt made any efforts to get him arrested for that.
Gumi has always hidden under the cover of mediation to "hobnob" with the known criminals. So it is interesting to any discerning mind that he has suddenly made a volte face because the govt rejected his "political solution". So it is not because of any consciousness of legal implications of "hobnobbing" that led him to make that clarification. Rather, it is a declaration that since the govt has chosen the highway, he can do no more. That is why he mentions hope of a future political solution.
