An off-duty NYPD lieutenant is seriously injured and in a likely to die condition after a shootout early Thursday outside a Queens nightclub — where armed suspects attempted to rob him of his jewelry, police officials said. The officer had just left La Boom nightclub in Woodside around 3 a.m. when the gun-toting crew aimed at him, triggering a gunfight at Northern Boulevard and 57th Street, NYPD Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said at a press conference.
