I don't know what life would look like if I wasn't in programming, I'm still learning and don't have a job yet but it gives me hope. I know one day tech will wipe my tears and my days of suffering will be over. My laptop was unable to boot yesterday and my heart skipped a beat, I was sweating in a rather cool harmattan weather.,...that's how much my hope is hinged on tech. 10 Likes |

Supreme145: I know that feeling. I've seen teenagers and people in their early twenties literally becoming responsible for supporting their households (including rent) financially. Not from anything illegal but from a tech career. Their retired parents simply hands off. Some of these guys don't even have a degree. Just the intellectual resilience to keep learning. Just wondering if they'll have ever been able to make any meaning of their lives in the extremely harsh economic realities of Africa. I visited some African countries and the story of hardship is not so different from Nigeria's. 3 Likes |

Lindner: Aside south africa, I don't think any country in sub Saharan Africa can be compared to Nigeria especially with regards to economic opportunities. |

tensazangetsu20: Hi boss. By following your footsteps, I'm now done with html on freecodecamp Should i find a html project and use it to practice or move on to study css? Should i continue the css on freecodecamp? If no, pls suggest the best way to learn it. Thank you sir |
Re: Why Relocating Abroad As A Software Developer Is Easier Than You Thought by tensazangetsu20(m): 8:28am On Dec 21, 2021 |
shiffynaani:I won't recommend you to learn CSS on freecodecamp. Download css the complete guide by Maximilian Schwartz and use that. You can do a html project or not. It doesn't matter. Html is very easy. |

Lindner:To be honest, only South Africa has more jobs or economic opportunities than Nigeria in Subsaharan Africa at the moment, even that same South Africa have very high unemployment rate. |

Gbsks: I dont know zero about Lua , but python ,c++ and blueprint i know. I find the trick to learning computer stuff in this modern day, is to use youtube and google and have a working example/tutorial that you are working on getting your hands dirty. As for the programming languages i know unreal uses c++, Python and blueprints. However c++ is the fastest by far, if you gona write large game doing lots of fancy stuff like fortnight , then its mostly gona need c++ , else it will be slow and laggy. They way they advice is that Blueprints will be ontop doing high level stuff, and c++ under doing low level stuff, in short your blueprints will be controlling components you built from c++. As for guide, there is like just too many tutorials on youtube , Also the maker of unreal have there own tutorials on thier web page, these tutorials are especially very good. https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/onlinelearning-courses hit the sign in to learning portal button below. Youll need some login . The challenge i face with unreal engine is that its too sensitive, its very powerfull and as result its not very user friendly. BY that i mean just building your code does not mean it will work when you hit play. Also you have to be carefull when using c++, cause your code goes into the unreal editor, meaning your code can break unreal engine if you not carefull. When you clcik the editor to open, part of the code its running when opening up is your code, so do not be surprised if it crash before it even open. So you have to take baby steps when adding c++ code until you are comfortable with its behaviour. So if you looking to write big complex games, you want to mix C++ and blueprint c++ cause its fast, blueprint cause its very powerful and makes your code easier to understand. My strategy is to skill up very well, then collaborate with others to develop games, i dont think we are in the era when one person can write game anymore, unless its something very small like mobile phone games. Game development budgets is now rivalling movie production budgets. Also the unreal Engine forum has people who help there, thier response may be slow in coming at times but quite often you get help. And StackOverflow too is good for c++ questions , and even unreal engine questions. 1 Like |

God bless the OP for this post. I have friends that frequent countries overseas due to thier skills. I'm presently following the Data Science hierarchy, hoping to become a Database Engineer (a long way indeed, but I no get choice). Now my question is, can a Database Engineer be regarded as a Software Developer? Because it seems the demand and pay for software developers is higher than other fields. If not, I'd like to focus on Data Analytics/Science. Thanks boss. 1 Like |
