The National Youth Service Corps has backed the Nigerian army on detention of female soldier, Army Private Hannah Sofiat, after she accepted a marriage proposal from her corps member lover, at the NYSC orientation camp in Yikpata, Kwara State, Newspremises reports.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday December 21, Director-General of the NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Ibrahim Shuaibu explained that the Army is a strong institution which was founded on the basis of discipline.

Shuaibu further stated that the Nigerian army will not take anything that will impinge on discipline lightly.

He said;

“Every organisation has its own customs and traditions, and we have to abide by it. We, on our part, have spoken to our corps members.

“We encourage them to inter-marry, but we have never had a situation where a corps member will go and propose (to a soldier).

“The Army has its own tradition and they will not joke with it. So, we always tell our corps members to play by the rules.

“I can assure that the army as an institution is built on its customs and traditions, and anything that will impinge on discipline, they will not take it lightly.”

Kilode na, na love she love, she no kill anyone.
Nobody is looking at the possibility of them dating even before they got to the camp.

Make them free the dude and the banny. Them no kill anybody. Na love join them together.

Is it not the same army that keeps shooting at unarmed civilians and nothing has been done about that.
Let's start the discussion from those killings and let the army accept it's culpability in the some many killings in the south.

Nigerians are just too emotional. Every organization has its own rules and regulations. The corp member was supposed to be her trainee, getting involved in an amorous relationship with him is unethical. Perhaps, they could have kept it private till it's right time. Doing that inside the camp and also posting the video on internet is outrightly against the rule of the army.
My appeal to the army is, they should be lenient with her.

Why?

All I can say is happy married life to the Female soldier, her happiness is paramount.

U can see the smile on her face while displaying the engagement ring.

Buhari should order for her release immediately

The issue shouldn't be escalated further.

She's already in a 'safe' detention where she's expected to be drilled again on the ethics of the Nigeria Army.

We can only plead for soft landing for her.
