The Chinese has investments in the east of Africa notably somalia and Kenya.
Other African countries with investments in that region include The United Arab Emirates in Somalia and djbouti (I think) and it has a military contingent stationed in that region!
Already Ethiopia has tilted the dynamics with it's china sponsored electric hydro dam construction which is affected Egypt,Sudan and it is a big problem (unresolved).
So if Ethiopia plunges into another unending civil war .how the dynamics play out it will be interesting.
I strongly believe the interest is in the control of the sea route at the horn of Africa!

I hope I am wrong but something tells me it won't be long before Chinese drones and Chinese infantrymen are deployed for the purpose of mass killing Africans in their homelands to further Chinese strategic objectives seeking to dominate the entire continent and her sea lanes, as you point out.

It will be counter productive for china to use such a strategy and china will find itself playing directly into the hands of the US and its allies.

You're right. The good old debt trap has been used very profitably by the Chinese with the instrumentality of their loan-shark terms and their white elephant projects. Apparently the Chinese pretty much own the eastern European nation of Moldova right now, by building that tiny impoverished nation a huge highway to nowhere whose overdue funding bill has been defaulted on, thus triggering Chinese land ownership clauses in the loan contract, effectively handing over that entire nation and its natural resources to China on a silver platter.

The same ploy is at work in Africa but on a much grander scale.

The challenge for china is the African countries already have huge debts owed world bank,IMF and other donor agencies .it is also has problem with France over its territorial cover.
Therefore it is only countries that exclusively are not under Europe cover that have serious issues!
But at the end it will be the old system of everybody seat down and redivide Africa again!
