louqas:The other truth was that when the sharing fomular favoured you through cocoa you never complained, now that the pendulum swung to the other side you are getting jealous and run them down through your media, that's hypocrisy. You must be really a child to call the East unproductive, how do you measure productivity, what are the states' GDP compared to the rest? |

I don't like reading anything these old hags have to offer, they all had their chances but blew it, I only thank God for His faithful judgement, if they can't be judged by man, at least they can't escape God's judgement the righteous judge. |

Advocate500:He pointed out that the derivative principle continued till the discovery of oil in commercial quantity at Oloibiri in 1956 which the then Prime Minister, Alhaji Tafawa Balewa, sent congratulatory message to the then Premier of the Eastern Region, Dr. Michael Okpara. The sharing formula at the time was 50% of the revenue for the owning State, while 20% and 30% goes to the Federal government and distributable pool, for sharing among the regions, including the contributing region. So after reading the bolded in Clarke's letter you concluded that the going of 50% to the producing area was done by Michael Okpara despite you read it clearly that Balewa was the one who congratulated Okpara for joining the club of those to be receiving 50% derivation? Per your second line of arguement, there was not yet any discovery of crude oil in the Midwest while it was still part of the Old Western Region so the West didn't cheat the Midwest of crude oil revenue and Edwin Clark didn't so insinuate. Most importantly you read where he made it clear that the Igbo coups of January 1966 destroyed the constitution by which this 50% derivation was being enjoyed. |

christistruth01:Can we extend this arguement of yours to also say that it was because IBB and the North loved the SW that they used cash and military influence to buldoze the better qualified Alex Ekweme an Igbo man out of the way in 1999 to enable Obasanjo clinch the PDP ticket in 1999 despite he, Obasanjo, fell far short of PDP NWC criteria? |

Igboid:Thank for sharing this. Let Clark and his crew keep spreading their propaganda. The truth will always come to light. The same old Eastern region that became one of the fastest growing economy in the world without crude oil input. The sames old Eastern region whose footprints dots the landscape like a colossus. From the Trans Amadi industrial hub in Portharcourt and it's presidential hotel, to the industrial hub in Enugu, the cattle ranch in Obudu, the rubber and palm plantations littered all over the place. The scholarship board with its numerous beneficiaries etc Liars can keep lieing but records would always prove them wrong. |

walefresh3:You should learn to under the basics of an argument before delving into it. Clarke has no busy attributing the poor performance of his region in Delta to the Eastern region. His Gbaramatu kingdom was never under the government of the Eastern region. You can read it up and counter me if I'm wrong. The failure of the elders of today stemmed from their parochial decisions of yesterday. Clark and his likes have started understanding that fighting against Igbos in the Nigerian jungle can never benefit them. I hope that younger Ijaws like him will learn it too. |
| Re: Resource Control: Edwin Clark Tackles Obasanjo, Recalls Ugly Past by Nchenches: 10:38am On Dec 23, 2021 |
GGirll:They blew their chances to control the resources found in their backyard wnen some so-called elders of the now SS region went to Kaduna in 1967, and begged the then governor of Northern region, Hassan Katsina, to beg then HoS, Yakubu Gowon, to carve the non-Igbo speaking areas of the old Eastern region out from Biafra. Gowon quickly carved Cross River and Rivers states out of Biafra. Immediately after that, northern politicians and soldiers grabbed the multi million dollars oil blocks in the southsouth for keeps. Carving Cross River and Rivers states from Biafra contributed to the early fall of riverine areas to Nigeria and which led ultimately to defeat for Biafra. Unfortunately, there may still be pockets of elders now in the SS like those erratic elders of the old. |

Deadlytruth:you chose the one agree with and the one to disagree with, i have no issue with that, oil or no oil Clarke carefully mentioned the west marginalising the midwest as at the time. Maybe you need to read it the second time. |
| Re: Resource Control: Edwin Clark Tackles Obasanjo, Recalls Ugly Past by Deadlytruth(m): 10:47am On Dec 23, 2021 |
Owologbo:I can see your anger. I am not from the SW. However, recall that the SW rejected Obasanjo's bid to become president in 1999 but was supported and voted massively for by the SS and SE now complaining of his anti-resource control antecedents. What were you people expecting when you were voting for a stooge of the North whom Northerners presented because of having a history of defending their interest at the expense of the South's? |
| Re: Resource Control: Edwin Clark Tackles Obasanjo, Recalls Ugly Past by Deadlytruth(m): 10:50am On Dec 23, 2021 |
Advocate500:Read me well. I didn't say the West didn't marginalize the Midwest. Of course that was why we chose to exit it in the first instance. What I am saying is that the marginalization in question was not about oil. Read the story again and you would see where Clark only spoke of the marginalization in terms of assets sharing and never oil which was yet unknown in the Midwest then. Then the other fact is that the East marginalized the Eastern Region minorities back then and that explains their quest for COR Region and the eventual Isaac Adaka Boro secession declaration. |

walefresh3:Southwest is the most developed region in Nigeria yes we agree. But if Southwest start a serious agitation to secede from Nigeria, take it from me, despite the huge investments Igbos have in Southwest, Igbos will massively support Southwest to secede. But any time Yorubas or Hausa-Fulanis hear that Southeast want to secede from Nigeria, they all start to bleed from every angle of their body. They start to drum for war to make sure Igbos dont leave them yet they make the loudest noise of being the most developed region。 Why not allow Igbos secede and 20 years later lets check how far without any other excuses. Igbos are the thread holding Nigeria's development, you all know the truth. Igbos have the highest number of investments all over Nigeria. They have the highest in Southwest, Northeast, Northwest, North central, Southsouth and Southeast. The only tribe that invest in all regions of Nigeria without fear or prejudice are the Igbos, the statistics is glaring for all to see yet you guys make the highest noise of yeye unrealistic paper IGR. Make out time and visit Imo, Anambra, Enugu and compare them with Ogun, Osun, Ekiti or Ondo. But unfortunately an average Yoruba person is cowardly and rarely step outside his region, his highest travel is to UK, US, etc, he doesn't have the courage to go to daring cities out of fear, he only goes to established cities built by daring people. Igbos are like the ancient European explorers, expeditors and voyagers who toured around the world discovering new lands without fear they abandon their developed comfort zones in Europe to explore dangerous lands and thats what makes them the bedrock of global development till date. Look at Chinese today, they are everywhere in the world, they dont stay in China and claim China is richer and more developed than Africa, instead they are already all over Africa owning almost all African investments. Those are the traits of great tribes and races, not cowardice and bragging in your hut |

Deadlytruth:The. Willink commission report clearly proved beyond reasonable doubt that Igbos never marginalized the minorities. Especially when you consider that Crude oil was not a source of revenue for Eastern region but Coal and Palm oil and taxation, which Ndiigbo contributed a lion share of. https://www.nairaland.com/6586330/how-ndiigbo-oppressed-marginalized-eastern |
| Re: Resource Control: Edwin Clark Tackles Obasanjo, Recalls Ugly Past by Advocate500: 11:09am On Dec 23, 2021 |
Deadlytruth:yes I agree with you, but if you understand my initial statement is centred on marginalisation based on one side narrative. The way that of old eastern region was amplified you will never believe marginalisation existed in the old western region, that is the only point was trying to defend. |

Advocate500:Awolowo was an apostle for a loose federation. No other leader was ready to listen to minorities agitations for their own region, but he did by creating Midwest out of Western region. I don't know the facts behind revenue sharing, but I am sure he won't hold back what rightfully belong to the Midwest. Bendelites are too intelligent for anyone to take them for a ride. If Awolowo marginalised Midwest that later became Bendel state, they won't vote massively for Prof. Ambrose Ali, Awolowo's UPN party governorship flag bearer in 1979 election |

Edwin Clark and his unfortunate generation have nothing to show for the Ijaw/Niger Delta alliance with the North since the First Republic. It is the north that took 50% derivation down to 0% but it's Obasanjo that he can criticise. SMH |
