We need help, our forests now accommodate terrorists, bandits, robbers — Ganduje begs Buhari

Ganduje Appeals for more military institutions in Kano forest

The Kano State State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to come to the aid of the state as its forests have been taken over by terrorists, armed robbers, bandits and criminal elements.

Speaking to State House after meeting with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the governor called for the establishment of another military training base in the forest bothering the three states of Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi and Plateau, to check the activities of the criminals.

He said he was at the Presidential Villa to brief President Buhari about the security situation in his state, describing the current security challenges in the country as unfortunate.

According to Ganduje, “First of all, I came to see Mr President and briefed him on the security situation in Kano.

“There are challenges all over the country that are unfortunate, but we believe Mr President is doing his best with other stakeholders in order to curtail the situation.

“We need the helping hand of almost everybody, especially governors and chairmen of local governments. We have observed that the security situation now, our forest are the major problems because they accommodate bandits, they accommodate terrorists they accommodate armed robbers and they accommodate those who are criminals.

“In Kano State, we have taken some measures. We have two large forests the Falgore forest, which is bordering Kano, Kaduna and Bauchi and also not far away from Plateau.

“In that forest, we established a military training ground in conjunction with the Army. And there’s a lot of military training going on in that forest using the facilities that we have provided.

“So, that is helping to checkmate the activities of bandits in that forest and I have requested Mr President to also establish another institution within that forest and that forest will be liberated completely.

“Also, we have introduced technology within the forest, from the office of the DSS in Kano and the Office of the Commissioner of Police and even from my office, we are able to monitor what is happening in that forest.

“And there’s effective communication between the DSS and the police and those who are managing the forest; the checkpoints and various places that security agencies are manning.

“Also community policing, we are making it a very important agenda. The traditional rulers right from the amas, district heads, village heads, ward heads, Imams and major stakeholders; are holding regular meetings and the security agencies get a lot of information for the local people that are helping Kano state a lot.

“Also in Kano metropolitan where we have eight mega local governments, we are establishing some technology. In particular, we’re improving the network system within metropolitan Kano. We’re laying over 100 kilometres of optic fibre within Kano metropolitan.

“So that CCTV cameras will be more effective. So that we can manage the whole megacity in terms of security and also in terms of improvement of the network.

“We have also constituted what we call an enlarged Security Committee. Because limiting it to the Air Force, Army, Police, DSS Civil Defence, I think the security network in terms of the flow of information, requires much more than that.

“So we are including Customs, Immigration, Correctional homes, those involved in Human Trafficking Prevention of Human trafficking, NAFDAC, even the NDLEA, because of drugs, even the Federal Road Safety Corps, even our own local traffic managers, Karota, the Vigilante group, all these we put them into one committee where we hold meetings and exchange information, Ganduje noted.

“And they constitute subcommittees that relate with community policing. And through that, we have a lot of information and that is helping the system to be effective and efficient.

“Also, we introduced technology. As earlier mentioned, we have the most powerful tracker in the country. Through that one, even some people who escaped to the Niger Republic, Cameroon, we’ve been able to trace them and connect with international security agencies for their arrest.

“So, Kano is the most or one of the most peaceful states in the federation, because of this multi-faceted approach that we have adopted in order to secure the state and we shall continue to do that,” Ganduje said.

If the north can be this useless with all the government pampering, how will it be without the government?

But on a more serious note, sometimes it's good to find yourself in the wrong side of the government. It simply makes you to wake up. Since you understand that it's all man for himself. Marginalizing Igbos really made them developed thick skin. Check out all pampered kids. They cry at the slightest provocations.

How can a region which has held power for a long period
....Have the highest number of drop outs
....Highest number of illiterates
.... Highest number of drug addicts
.... Highest number of the jobless youths
.... Highest number of crime rate
.... Highest number of insecurities
.... Highest number of lazy youths

What then has government been doing for them? Just religion? And religion in brain washing mode. Ban alcohol, ignore drug taking. Ban prostitution but patronize prostitutes in Abuja. Teaching you to have many kids since it's a blessing from Allah but not assisting you with any fund to train them.

For me, there should be a new crop of generation that should do proper reorientation in northern Nigeria. They really need to learn to tackle their issues and come out of their predicament. Am sorry the north is gone. Surely gone

Gandollar

It's now quite obvious that northerners has no reasonable solution to insecurity facing the region.

How can having more military training ground solve the avalanche of insecurity kano is facing?
Headquarters of Division 1 is in Kaduna.
Military police Headquarters is in Kaduna.
Nigerian Army Deport is in Kaduna.
Airforce Training ground is in Kaduna
Nigerian Army legal corp head office is in Kaduna.
NDA is in Kaduna, plus other security agencies are in KD yet the state is very unsafe, same goes to Niger State, Borno state with high military high formation yet it has not solve security challenges in those state rather the bandits/terrorist are even invading the military formations.

Gandollar is simply looking for contract so that he will collect kickback and pocked in his babaringa

The earlier Nigeria political elites understand the role of good economy in sustenance of peace in society, the better it is. When economy is tough and people can't eat well, establishment of military base, recruitment of soldiers and security personnel can't curtail crimes. The situation is fair in the south because youths that can't endure are into yahoo plus and money rituals. By the time no option is available, expect them too to adopt banditry or invent another crime. Some crimes are alien to Nigeria society few years ago but are reigning now because of high level of poverty. It's a pity the governors only go to aso rock to advise bubu in a wrong way, everyone eye will soon cast by the time political elites alone become target of these crimes

Oh. So you don't know?

Southerners (South west and South East) both complained of this menace few months ago and each one tried in their own best way to ensure the ugly trend is immediately nipped in the bud.

You Northerners stood against the establishment of Amotekun as a solace for South west to address the inadequacy of the northern controlled Nigerian Police. You even, less actively though, worked against the establishment of Ebubeagu in the south east claiming all these are moves to entrench independence and federalism by the south (which is what is the ideal in the first instance, being called a federal Republic). But you Northerners will not have the rest of the country divesting themselves away from shackles and living the good life of rest from threat and fear of threat to lives and properties because you were already used to it in your own region and would want to drag every other person along into your type of self inflicted doom.

All your efforts at frustrating the SW leadership and especially your war (masterminded by Malami the Nigeria Northern AGF) against Akeredolu of Ondo State is still fresh.

Well, thank goodness that the regional security outfits, save the hypocritical Hisbah of the North, were able to painstakingly reduce (though not yet uhuru) the menace of occupation of their forests by antisocial elements. They have mostly been chased back to the north where they came from.

Now you should deal with your own problems and let the rest of us hear word.

Useless northern leaders.

The North is suffering due to two things;the regions hypocrisy in the way they have acted towards 2 president's that faced similar challenges;and the effects of stoning one while metaphorically enjoying being stoned(insecurity and economic wise)by another.
They are respectively called hypocrisy and karma.Hypocrisy is acting differently when faced with similar situations, karma is reaping the rewards of your actions(or inactions).
Hypocrisy bites u like a scorpion sting.
Karma hunts like a family of starved lions.

Our Style of Government is not a Federal System but a mediocre, beggar's one where you go begging the FGN to poop, wee and do stuff.

Our mediocrity stems from our beggarly, lack of independence, lack of indepth, creative, deep thinking and inability to profer solutions to our problems.

Drop sleeping gases in those forests to catch them.
