How I Dealt With Body-shamers. by Nobody: 3:59pm On Dec 29, 2021
While growing up, I had classmates who always call me skinny, that my head was bigger than my body and I should eat more. There was a time in 100level, my coursemate told me I would never get a guy who loves me because guys love thick and curvy ladies. This statement of hers "broke me into pieces", lol (small me). To be honestly, it wasn't my parents genes or no enough food to eat, I was an over-thinker, thinking was my breakfast and lunch. I mostly forget to eat because of thinking, I was going through some serious psychological trauma.

Even when people body-shamed me, words from my mouth where like sword. I never cared, I made sure I quickly assess my body-shamers body and once I see any fault, omoh!!! I insult them back. Most of them came back apologizing, while some still keep malice with me up till now.

Moving on to when I was in 300level in university, I tried not to overthink after all "wahala no they ever finish", I made sure I think less of my " present " while I commit my future in my creator hand's. I started "loving myself". Most times I look at the mirror and compliment myself, lol. Before I knew it, people started saying I was "looking healthy".

I also ate a lot of fruits, vegetables, milk and yoghurts. Carbonate drinks were never an option, took a lot of water and of course peace of mind. I find peace with myself and people around me. No room for negative vibes and influence.

Advice: if people bodyshame you, let them be. Don't waste your time. Funny, how some are in your shoes but they want to bring you down, to make themselves better, they don't worth your time. Even if you don't have enough money to solve your problems, loving yourself more, can make you place your health and peace of mind above anything.

I'd love to know how you stopped body-shamers too. wink

When I was a little boy around 13 or there about, I used to be very fat, then people would always insult me with that, they would call me different kind of names, "fat puppy" "big for nothing" "Elephantiasis" "big boy small prick" etc.
When I get to offend them, they call those names to spite me and they succeed because whenever they do that I get angry esp the issues of small prick lol.
So one day I told my mum and she said that when ever they do that I shouldn't fight that I should just laugh it off.
And when it happens again that they call me the name to get my attention, I would respond and just smile with pain. Gently it faded off.

Same applies to the present day, In a gathering, If my guys mock me for an event that long happened, my laughter would be the loudest.

Self love is something people learn in their late twenties. If it doesn’t happen then you haven’t grown as a person.

Kiss me‼️

You just gave me the courage to love myself instead of thinking negatively because of what people says about my look
