AuntLaVIV:
We were all Africans before we got separated into individual nations. African history and migration studies confirms that there is more that unites us than divides us. As the big family that we are, we all draw diverse creative inspiration from one another - no wonder then that we have similar cultures and values across the continent, and this cross-pollination is clearly shown in our music and sound. With the advent of the modern day nation-state, each independent nation is uniquely gifted in order to contribute its quota to the overall status of Africa's entertainment and creative arts scene. To do this, we must support each other in equal measure. Our brother nation Nigeria has done very well to mark many of the biggest milestones in the entertainment scene and is putting Africa on the global map due to the strength of its population (amongst other qualities.

Accordingly, our Nigerian brothers must consider that with their great power comes the responsibility of helping to forge a united African front by deliberately allowing music from the other African countries which pollinate Nigerian music to flourish on Nigerian platforms on local and international levels. This approach will enable the African sound to dominate the world as one big family and as a global force... That's how we stand as one Africa.. My brother Shatta Wale's approach may be wrong but the topic of our brother nation Nigeria not reciprocating the love and support it receives particularly from Ghana is valid and deserves critical attention. Meanwhile, as the saying goes, we must love our neighbours as we love ourselves (not more than we love ourselves). This means that Ghanaians home and abroad must emulate the Nigerian approach of prioritising an agenda to invest in and support Ghanaian talent.
Very stupid talk, so when Nigerians support nigerian artist finish, we will now start looking for ghanians to support too, after that we enter Senegal, south Africa?
Don't look for way to grow ur own, is it not this same Ghanaian that don't like Nigerian business men?

Our African neighbours are jealous of us .

1. Dec 22 2020 a Cameroonian comedian called Pancho Cy openly called for the complete ban of Nigerian music in his country. He claimed Nigerian artiste are beginning to have a strong fan based in cameroun, he cited lots of examples and instances where the Cameroonian populace now prefer to listen to Nigerian songs rather than their indigenous Cameroonian music even in wedding ceremonies (where they prefer to listen to Ada Ada by Flavour).

2. Dec 15 2020; a Uganda artiste named BeBe Cool ensured Nigerian musician Omah lay, Tems and their producers Muyiwa Awomiyi were arrested and locked up for 2 days, after a sold out concept which the Nigerian duo were supposed to perform , they were accused of flouting the COVID 19 rule, around that same period a video surfaced on Facebook showing a Ugandan musician rejoicing over their arrest and claiming that Nigerian musicians made more money than them during COVID period even in Uganda and so deserves to be arrested..It took the intervention of the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs before they were released

Now fast forward to this Shatta Wale's issue,,,

This guy has a general beef for Nigeria artiste, if you doubt me, kindly visit his Facebook page and watch some of his videos, you will discover that he is always making unhealthy comparison between the Ghanaian music industry and that of Nigerian... Before his recent outburst,he dropped a video where he advised Ghanaian ladies to stop celebrating Nigerian artist.

Continuation

Shatta Wale's jealousy was aggravated the moment Burna boy and Wizkid got nominated and won Grammies respectively. Now what pained him the more was that of Wizkid. Whyhuh? Beyonce collaborated with Wizkid to produce BROWN SKIN GIRL, which won the Grammy award for best music video,,, Around that same period she also had a collaboration with Shatta wale in producing a song titled ALREADY,but the song never got much recognition and wasn't appreciated that much as he complained bitterly on 5th March 2021.

Now Back to matter ,, why are Ghanaians music artiste complaining about Nigerian Support. This is wrong whyhuh?

1, Music is a Universe Language and you don't need the support of any nation for your music to gain recognition or thrive(if it's good and appealing to the ear), people will come for it naturally irrespective of their colour or race,it is as simple as ABC, the laws of VALUES supports it... Everyone in the world likes good music... Currently Fireboys song PERU is no 1 in the UK Apple Top 100 chart list,,the song is also doing very well in the US,Australia and Canada,,did Nigerians travel to those countries to beg for supporthuh NO NO . Give the world what its needs and even if you are in a hole, the world will come looking for you...Back in the days Nigerians vibed to good Ghanaian music like VIP and Even Awilo from Dr Congo, Amulanga by Magic System from Ivory coast

2. What you do not support ,you will never have,, it's obvious even to the blind that the motive behind the clamouring of support by Ghanaians artiste are based on ENVY and JEALOUSY...whyhuh? In the UK Wizkid had a sold out concert at the O2 arena, and some Ghanaian musicians were invited noteable among them was king promise, Burna boy brought Blacko (a Ghanaian artiste) to Nigeria few days back ,,so kini big dealhuh....So Shatta wale are Stone boy are just envious , jealous and angry that they were not invited.

To be brutally honest with you, I don't even know what the fuss is all about. Ghanaian musicians are still very popular and they are making good money. shata wale lives like a king here in Ghana.

The point is that if nigerians artistes come to Ghana and there are no deliberate attempts to promote Ghanaian artites in Nigeria, then the relationship cannot continue. I won''t be surprised if all these nigerian artites are not invited to Ghana in the future. In ghana, the people get what they want. and if the consensus is that nigerian musicians are not needed in Ghana because Ghanaian musicians are also not getting that opportunity, then that is it. chikena. nothing spoil, abi?
If u believe that is the solution... so be it. But my point is that, its not a deliberate thing. Its not the fault of the music industry, Its all about what the music fans love and listen to.... If we the fans are vibing to a GhaNian artist Song, he will definitely be invited to perform in Nigerian. There was a time only american artist are invited to perform in Nigeria, then even me hate naija songs. They up their game and we all started loving it. I once went to a naija music site dat group song by country. I downloaded south african and Ghanian songs. I had to delete all d ghanian songs i downloaded. Not my fault, I just want to listen to good music

Then, let's leave. The way Nigerians castigate their own country has made other countries to think they are better off. It's not true. We have issues, like every country. That's just it. I just visited Cameroon last month, I saw many Nigerians there, even working and selling in their markets. Some have lived there for years. But is Cameroon better than Nigeria? No. Except for electricity.

I've listened to their A list artistes especially the recent ones kidi, kuami Eugene, king promise,Wendy shay and the rest these people will have to seriously up their game if they want to break into the Nigerian market and the world infact especially considering the level of competition amd talents we have . Nobody would let you headline shows if they aren't show that you will draw massive crowd,. There is no sentiments about these things.
Nigerians prefer watching the premier league that has lgbt flags all over the place over the Nigerian league because of the difference in Quality.
This stuff is pretty simple I can't understand why Ghanian artistes are asking for the impossible
It's the bitter truth, according to Burna, "odogwu dey enter their eye".

That's a good message. But it's because Nigerian musicians spent huge amount of money in promotion and partnership, both on the African continent and overseas. That's why they succeeded. It has nothing to do with Nigeria's population. Jamaica with a population of about 3 million people is one of the most popular countries in music.

I particularly like Ghana, but I think with regards to the topic (which I would appeal we stick to) your mainstream artistes are towing a wrong path. Your music industry should identify its problems and fix it,the idea of coming out in public to ask(or rather blackmail,or in shatta wale's case berate) Nigerian artistes or entertainment industry to promote u is condescending. Music is about demand, and with the level of interface and connection provided by social media you can easily make your stuff heard. Nigerians are utilising that well, its no one's fault if you aren't doing it as well as we are

Ghana top 20 chart, has just 2 Ghanian artist there, everything is dominated by naija artists

Ghanian music promoters pay naija artists to come perform in Ghana is not for charity, they are business men and it's evident they can stack their money on naija artists to cash out on their country men, than put that money on their fellow Ghanian artists.

The problem with nigerians is that they know how to lie to themselves. grin They've told themselves lies over the years and are still telling themselves lies today grin

A typical nigerian will tell things that will shock outsiders. and yet they can't even give you one fact to prove anything. At best they will forge and manipulate numbers to suit themselves and their whims grin

yes, you got a point. Music is business. But trust me, if you carry on with that line of argument, don't be surprised if your artistes get kicked out of Ghana soon huh?

whether you think the Ghanaians have a point or not, you better listen to them because they will ultimately get what they want. Yes, the people of Ghana will always get what they want because it is their country and they determine what goes on their territory.and you can'rt fault that.

so is it not better to find a way to make everybody happy, instead of carrying on as if they don's have a point?

Nothing is impossible. afterall all Ghana kicked out Nigerians in 1969 and heavens did not fall, huh?

You are forgetting that Ghana has a very strong music culture, huh? Yes, the music sector has gone down a bit in Ghana at the moment but ask elders in your country to tell you about how Ghana music overwhelmed Nigeria in the 1960s and 1970s. grin

Even Fela was in Accra for long periods to understudty Ghana music. grin

Currently, it will be very f00lish to assume that Ghana music is dead. NO. And I foresee the local Ghana music industry will bounce back soon. I have heard some amazing songs by indigenous Ghanaian musicians that gives me confidence that it is just a mater to time before Ghana music comes back to the heights reached in 1960s and 1970s.

The music culture is already very strong. it is just a matter of time. Perhaps the noise from you nigerians can speed up the process, huh? grin

Didn't shata wale draw a full stadium crowd in Accra few days ago? Ghanaians enjoy both their local musicians and foreign artistes.

Don't assume anything about Ghanaians. You know nothing about them

That's why I said no need of this back and forth. You have not been to Nigeria. We have big issues. Yes. But don't compare Ghana to Nigeria.
For what it is worth, the number of people living in Nigeria with a good quality of life is bigger than the number of the population of Ghana as a whole because of our population. But the number of people living in poverty is bigger too in Nigeria. Are you seeing what I'm saying. You can only understand if you have been here. That's the truth. Forget about media issues. Travel and learn
In Ghana for instance, there is no indigenous billionaire in US dollars, few indigenous companies, many Nigerian companies.
I met a Ghanaian who came to Nnewi for work from Ghana. He marveled what he saw there. He was encouraged and said he learned. Nnewi is a small town in the East, but very industrious. The businesses and houses and companies going on there closed his mouth. It's a competition. In Nnewi, building a bungalow there is like a waste of your land. He told me he had learnt how to be industrious. Nigerians are not satisfied, they want more, they push more. You see them talk against govt and each other because they want more.
So please, remove pride, let's see a way to improve
